Supposedly from a mid 90's shitbox "telephone truck" so that told me it was almost surely a C&C dually rear, but I'm not the one that pulled it. I resized the pics to 800x600 so you can blow 'em up, I know the forum is going to shrinkydink them.

It's got the same 10 bolt "square edge" cover that the axle in my '94 3500HD has, so it's the what, Dana 80? Same cast iron spring perches, not stamped metal. 8 lug pattern, studs are long so I'm assuming dually instead of single wheel 1 ton but that's just an assumption.

Spring perches are about 48.5" from center to center. That's 8" wider than my 3500HD C&C, and I'd ass-sume that it would be the same on a regular 3500 (non-HD) C&C because both should have the industry standard 34" C&C frame width but I don't have a non-HD C&C to compare to. Maybe later I can go measure my buddy Dan's 3500 (non-hD) C&C; I know they use narrower springs, maybe the hangers are further out from the frame making up that difference?

Wheel mounting surface is about 67" wide though a little hard to get exact measure because brakes are missing on one side so the drum kept flopping sideways. That's roughly the same measurement I get out of my 3500HD so this rear has got to be C&C dually.

Casting number on top of pumpkin 859 and some kind of 2 pin sensor up top, speed sensor for ABS maybe?

Casting number on rear flange beside cover looks like 42856. Metal tag attached to cover not really legible right now because some doof painted over it.

OK, got a chance to measure my buddy's '99 shitbox C3500 (non-HD) C&C and he has the same perch spacing as my HD does, so this is not off a regular 1 ton C&C either.

Crazy thing is, it has the wms-to-wms spacing of a C&C but the perch spacing is 8" wider. We kicked it around a while and he wondered if it maybe came off a cutaway van. You know, van front end, big box on the back or large service body. That would still make sense with what the guy I got it from said, that it came off a "telephone truck" - I've seen phone company vans with service bodies like that. You just don't see a lot of them. So it's not like I have one sitting around to measure.

I guess it would still work great if someone was reworking their frame for a C&C, the perches are closer to a regular rear than your typical C&C rear.

OK, I'm an f'in dip, it's not a Dana 80 - it's a Dana 60. My interest got re-ignited on identifying this thing because it's in my damn way, and I can't really use or market it properly unless I know what it is. Did some reading on identifying Dana's and found out they mark 'em on the case with the model #. This one says on the front of the case, both upper sides, 60-ISU where the one on my HD simply says 80.

Looks like you were dead on about it being from a Ford? Here's what I was able to get off the bill of materials tag, although it was stamped so damn lightly I could barely read it. I managed to get a 605420-1 from it, and according to the Spicer catalog:

605420 FORD 60 Rear 1990-91 1/2 E-250 Van SRW - Full Float w/ABS

Another portion of the tag says 3.54 which appears to be the gear ratio, which corresponds to what a 605420-1 says in the catalog.

Mystery solved. Now with that said, anybody need a SRW Dana 60 with 3.54's in it?
