First off let me say this is temporary. I have the stuff to bag but not the time.
Second I have heard every pro and con of cutting coils so I would like to skip the lecture, please.

In the interest of time could some one tell me how many turns to take off my 89GMC square 1-ton front coils so that when combined with my 3" spindles the front will match the drop from my Western flip kit. I'm looking for a 5 or so total drop. I'm thinking 2 turns.

Thanks in advance for useful advice and I promise you guys can whore the living daylights out of this thread once I get what I need. fair trade?

I feel you may have missed my point. While I would love to have unlimited time and money resources , I don't. I have all of the lines, valves, bags, tank, compressor to bag this thing. What I lack is time due to workin full time and wanting to spend time with my new daughter. I even have the steel to build the rear suspension and the welding equiptment to do it. I have another project that I am dedicated to ( my 72 suburban) but would like to enjoy the lowered stance in my dually. I see nothing wrong with trimming the coils a few turns and have had great success doing so many times before. In fact after carefully weighing my options at this time cutting the coils is in fact doing it the "right way" for my needs. I am sorry if you disagree. as I mentioned I have already made up my mind and the coils will be cut. What I was asking for was a simple this many turns for this many inches approximation to save me the trial and error, not a response that only offers an opinion and lacks any real substance. Will you critisize me if I call to order DBO 19's for my truck because you feel semi's are the right way? I hope not.

Now can someone, anyone offer me something other than opinion so I can get this done without a bunch of cut a little , test , cut a little more, test. If not well I'll do it the hard way. it's what I have to do for now.

Thanks again in advance,

Josh

I think cutting coils sucks, but anyway...if you cut one turn, test it, and it's not enough - then cut another to reach your original idea of two turns and it was enough, then you've only had them out and back in one extra time.

Thanks.
I just went balls out and cut two, I have a set of drop coils here somewhere if it doesn't work out. they were from a 69 chev I had that had a BBC so worse case I scrounge those up. guess I could just break down and bag the front only. I just don't honestly have time right now to fab the rear suspension and I'm not big on only baggin half the truck.

As for my dually, Lock may win after all It is currently sitting on the inner fenders and the shocks are bottomed. I will work on getting the inners pulled and build a set of shock extenders and go from there. She may end up bagged in sooner rather than later.
