ok, so i have an 82 1-ton dually that i'm converting to single wheel. here is what i did... i removed my dually rear end and went to put in a 14 bolt off an 81 3/4 ton. i swear i did a lot of reshearch on this but never read anything that said the spring perches are wider on a 14 bolt than a dually rear end... does this sound familiar to anyone? so i'm guessing the frames on duallys are narrower than single wheel trucks? the wheel mounting width on the 14 bolt i'm trying to use is 66 15/16. is that right? any input would be great.

and i know everyone is going to ask for pictures but i didn't have my camera with me at the time..

not real sure bout the measurement issues that your havin but its a fairly easy fix .. just cut off your spring pirches and reweld them on where you want them???? good luck with the project. why you going from dually to single wheel???

All one ton trucks use different spring hangers both front and rear then a 3/4 or 1/2 ton. You can swap the hangers off the 3/4 ton or move the perchs as J said. If you used a FF14 bolt out of a single wheel one ton the leaves would have matched up with the perches.

yep the pirches are different between the crew cab and the std cab but with that being said I dont know if its just 3/4t or if 1t are like that because I bolted up a std c&c dually rear end in my crew cab
I dont think its the frames I think its the hangers Ive never pulled a tape on them to see where the difference is

ok well sounds like i'm not crazy.... what about the wms to wms measurement, is 67inches what a single wheel rear end is supposed to be?

the rear end i took off (a dana 70 i believe) is in the back of my uncle trailer... i wonder what the wms to wms measurement is on that?

also im changing over to single wheel (and short bed but thats later) because i just want something different than what ever one else is got. also it would be easier to park? lol

so.. if all goes right i will have a dually rear end for sale in sacramento... thanks for the help guys

Nothing a grinder and a welder can't fix, just remember measure twice, cut once.

so i'm going to pick up a new pair of spring perches this weekend, while i'm at it i think i'll put the axel on top of the leafs.

why spend a hundred bucks on a flip kit if i could do it myself.

can any one here confirm the wms to wms width? i got 67inches, is that right for an 82? thanks again.
