Try macsprings for the bags,
look at page 25, they have one that is 5" compressed and 19" extended and 10" round. That is probably the same bag I have, maybe just are showing a slightly shorter extended length than what mine were rated.
As far as gooseneck hitch, it does change the amount of weight the is distributed to the front and rear axles compared to a tag trailer. With a tag trailer you actually take a little weight off the front end as the trailer is way behind the pivot point(rear axle) When you have a gooseneck or fifth wheel mounted above the pivot point, weight is mostly on the rear axle but transfers some to the front. Either way depending on your bag setup and quality of install you may be able to tow up to your gvw rating of your truck. Not to say that it is safe but I have towed more than what my truck is rated for and the suspension is the last of my worries. The lack of power on the 454 is my biggest drawback. I tow a 10,000 lb travel trailer with a quad in my bed, and other crap, and it rides better than some cars. If you didn't know you would never realize you were riding in a one ton.
