What are your opinions on flipping a ball joint, and I mean from pointing down to up. I am concerned that it is originally intended to have the pressure push it together and by flipping it, it would be trying to pull it apart. It is just an old mazda pickup so it is not like it is a 1 ton. But I thought I would get some opinions. I thought about a uniball, but it would be so easy to use the stock ball joint.

And I will be moving the upper arm to fix the geometry after doing it, so no worries there.

We do them on the old mini trucks all of the time. But we always upgrade to a Moog or similar balljoint when we do it also.

How do you guys "reverse" the taper in the spidle?

Machine an insert with the correct taper in the other side. You sometimes have to drill out the hole bigger to do this.

I was wondering about doing this on my dually to correct the tie rod angle when laid out

On a Mazda you don't physically flip the ball joint over. You just move it from the bottom of the control arm to the top side of the control arm.

This is a pre84 mazda, and I should be able to get about 3" of drop by doing it.
