ok well im in the process of having the body on my 1979 dually finished then im gonna move on to rims/tires/suspension. My brother is a diesel mechanic and can get me a killer deal on used 22.5 or 24.5. if i stick with a 265-35-22 what is the lowest I can lower the truck without having to stretch the rear fenders. Im not too worried about the front inners wheel wells. Im not looking to drop the truck to the ground, just gonna be a cruiser and occasionally haul my car to the track.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I will be starting a build thread soon, Just snowed a little out here in Chicago so the truck is covered.

You wont be able to lower the rear much, if any if you are going to be running the stock rear and hauling with the truck. The wheels will stick out a couple of inches on each side.

You can do a 3/4 on the squarebody truck I believe and they will not rub on the rear fenders. Depending on the rear axle in your truck they will stick out about 2" or so.

Lock, does that take into account the amount his truck will squat when "hauling his car to the track.?"

For the most part it really depends on the shape his springs are in on the truck. We have a 76 model that is lowered 3/4 and it doesn't squat at all but it does have a set of new leaf springs on it. I would say that the truck would squat a bit with a load on it but how much will depend on the leaf springs.

I have an 84 CC with very good condition factory leafs and when I hook my boat up (800 lbs tongue weight) she squats 1"
