upper bag plate help

I was wondering if anyone was running the front upper bag plates on the 80's crew cab duallys? I ordered the kit and it came with the bolt on upper plates but the truck looks stock height when aired out. Can i use like a one inch cup up in the spring pockets? any info would be greatly appricated.

Friend of mine did the same thing out here, those kits are all marketting BS, You want it to lay out, you got fab and build. You didnt weld anything in did you?

nope i didnt weld it in. Just bolted it and the bottom cup is floating in the control arm. Can i put in some like one inch cups on the top? Or what is the best way to install the bag in the upper spring pocket?

i plan on using the upper plate on mine and putting a cup into the lower arm about 2" down looks to be what most people do on them

I've looked all thru the posts and thats what i came up with also. Running the plate only and the he 7's it looks stock. I ordered some drop spindels so we will see how low it will sit after that. Also planning on running some 225/60/16's. so hopefully it will be close to laying on the ground.

Here's some pics of how we cup the lower arms. We cup them 3" so the arm can fully collapse without crushing the bag.

Looks good. I did mine the same way. But the problem is that the cups hit the ground too. its not really a problem since i drag the shitwagon anyways. Im also running a 225/'60/16 tire. My LCA cups, crossmember and the frame all hit the ground.

This truck doesn't have drop spindles, but the lower ball joints were raised about 2". No problems with control arms dragging the ground, it's got some tall tires, about 29". We don't do the 3" straight across the arm, it's at a slight angle so the bottom is almost parallel to the upper bag plate when laid out. If it was cupped straight across 3" then yeah it will drag the ground easily. If you only cup it 2" straight across it will pinch the bag on the outer corner by the spindle.



When aired out everything drags the ground. LOL!!! Yeah, the frame is Z'ed & it's body droped too.

Frame tweekin' cause uneven ground? Looks like the bed drags first.
