There was an article in one of the mags a few years ago on this. The costs of the parts and labor is enough that it takes a long time to pay for itself. I think I have the article, if so I can scan it and email it to you if you would like. Just shoot me a pm with your addy.

Its not as easy as it sounds just to switch gears, unless you have the correct tools and know how to do it right. There is alignment issues and whatnot to get the gears to mesh correctly. Its not rocket science but a bit more involved than just wrenching.

my email is I have changed gears before. So that isnt an issue
Thanks

actually, krewzlo, i'd like to be "cc'd" in that email too.

ive been really considering this swap too.

a 454 w/ a wore-out flowmaster peggin 2600 rpm goin down the hwy is brutal with a hangover!

any suggestions on gears? i was thinkin 3.73, maybe?

yea, 3.73s is a rather common swap i see guys doing. havent heard any complaints about that swap. seems to make at least a small change on the highway.

I just emailed it out, let me know if you don't get it.

Thanks I got it off of what code in the glove box can I find out the stock gear ratio that is in it right now?

Just about bet the farm if it's all original it's got 4.10's

Another option from the factory you might consider
is that quite a few 88-98's came with a 3.54 ratio.
