Could somebody point me in the right direction on a rear end if I can do it? I'm running 22 on the outside, a 16 inch steel on the inside, I don't want to cut my fenders and I don't plan on bagging until my semi is paid off. So is there a rear end I can use to get my wheels under the fenders and preferably no frame mods? I have a 5/7 drop. Thanks for any help.

What year truck do you have?

Let me preface this post by saying that I have a 98 CCD with a 14 bolt. I have also owned a 89 CCD which had a Dana 60 front and Dana 70 rear, which coincidentally have the same spindle sizes, and also have the same spindle size as the 14 bolt.

I have bought a SRW 14 bolt axle that I plan on converting to a C&C. The SRW is about 5 inches narrower than the DRW axle. The difference between a DRW, SRW, and C&C is this:

--- DRW is roughly 72-73 inches. I have not personally measured mine, but I think 73 is the accepted norm.

--- SRW is roughly 67-68 inches. The axle I have measures 67.5 from flange to flange.

--- C&C is roughly 63-64 inches flange to flange. The key info that I want you to be aware of is that there only two actual axle HOUSING widths ... either SRW or DRW. The only difference between the C&C axle and the SRW axle is the actual hubs. The SRW can be converted to a C&C axle by simply replacing the SRW hubs with DRW hubs. The brakes might have to be replaced with DIY disk brakes, but I cannot confirm this yet (cause I'm to damn busy to actually put this axle under my truck and build my suspension). As I look at the backing plates, the DRW backing plates definitely have a much deeper offset than the SRW backing plates ... so I am hoping that I can make a workable combo off of the DRW backing plates/SRW/DRW hubs and brakes. Only time will tell. Worst case, I can always do the disk brake

This link will give you a lot of info on 14 bolt axles, if that is what you have ... You can also find more info on Dana axles on this page if that is what you have.

conversion.

Hope this info helps

Hangslo would you post some pictures of your convertion. I have a c&c rear on my truck and after reading all this info. about converting I realized that I had just throw away a SRW. Yeah that sucks. From my understanding you use the SRW and swap everything from DRW to it or do you just use the hubs from the SRW on the DRW?

If you already have a C&C then that is as narrow as you can go without physically cutting/narrowing the housing and ordering axles, as the 14 bolt axles neck down past the splines and cannot be shortened and re-splined.
