I got the Escalade front clip from Alans02z a couple weeks ago, Got my drivers door lastnight ... I should have two more rear door handles to go on the front doors by the weekend (Rear handles don't have the lock hole) ... Another couple weeks and the body should be ready for the John Deere Blitz Black paint when it comes in ...

I'll get pics as I progress with the body work ...

Got 2 of my door handles ... I have 2 more on the way (My truck has textured door handles and the new ones are smooth, So I have two more smooth handles coming) ...

4 keyhole delete handles FTMFW ... :hb ... I know it's done before but I think it's cleaner looking than shaving the handles ... And if I decide to suicide the rear doors, I'll have smooth handles at the front of them ...

Might want to test-fit those handles before you get too far; they look to me like the smooth 88-93~early 94 handles, they are a few mm smaller all the way around than the 95-up handles. Most people don't believe me when I say this, but the newer door skins have a larger hole, and the handles changed (there's literally like 5 generations of OBS handles) to have a thicker plastic bezel gasket around them. I wouldn't be surprised if you find there's a large gap around those handles, at least on your original passenger door, the driver's door will depend on what year it came from.

Here's two of the styles, note the difference in the gasket thickness, and the gasket doesn't just swap over...that'd be too easy. Anyway

5 generations of OBS handles.
88-93~94 = smooth handle, thin plastic bezel gasket
94 = textured handle, thin plastic bezel gasket
95~96 = textured handle, thin plastic bezel gasket, switch to double sided key style tumbler
96~97 = textured handle, thick plastic bezel gasket, one band attaching bezel across back
98-up = textured handle, thick plastic bezel gasket, two bands attaching bezel across back

Like anyone cared? but it's the stuff that bites you in the ass when you weren't expecting it. This still will vary a little bit from truck to truck depending on what year the doors are from, and possibly what plant it was built at (different tooling.)

BTW man don't mind me, I mess with this junk so much anymore I'm becoming some kind of OBS nitpicky details nerd.

I'll have to check this out ... The new door came off of a '97 1500 RCSB and it had a smooth handle and new handles came off of a '95 Tahoe (according to the salvage yard) ...

Sounds like they're BS'ing you. Last year I saw smooth handles on anything was '94, and that's only some of them. Most had the textured handles. The other 3 handles on your truck are textured, and probably have a slightly thicker plastic bezel right?
