87' chevy dually r30 for retired vet

me and my buddies have been working on a truck for a retired vietnam vet. Now that I'm actually thinking about it I relize I have no idea what his name is he goes by "gunny". what we are trying to do is take his old 87 truck and turn it back into a running and relitively key word relitively nice truck for him to ride around in. he does a lot for the community and this is a small part of that community trying to give back. and if your wondering if your going to see a picture of an old man in a bagged truck forget it this is about going stock the way that he likes it. the main point of even starting this thread (cause trust me this isn't really my thing) is to ask all of the users at dually scene to donate. We no longer have the funds to continue to do this project. I will try to find some pics from before we started on this truck but I can't promise anything I can promise current pics and pics of the rest of the restoration on one condition, donate. thank you. I will get some pics of gunny and the truck as soon as possible.

i dont know if its just me, but something about this post is bothering me. now, i am all about helping people out the best i can and what not but it just seems like a scam ? or a guy looking for a freebie . maybe its because the ad is so brief, maybe its because anybody in the world can give a poor me story and want a handout. who knows. i could be wayyyyy off, but i just am not feeling this at all.

totally agree with you and understand where your coming from and if that's the way you feel then it's probably best that you find what you feel is a more legitamate charity to give to and what I should probably do is set up a website so that people can see what we are doing and make sure everyone can see that this is not a scam but i do believe that the right people will make contributions and with all due respect you may not be the right person and that is okay not everyone has to give because its the few that make the difference

ok guys I know everyone or yall two think this is a scam tell me how to make yall believers or at least the general public I looked into putting up a website but don't think I could do that because I have no experince with that kind of stuff I did put it in the stroller (a local column where people call into the newspaper to talk about thier views) no real turnaround that way other than people just wanting to help work on the truck although one guy did offer to help us out with free starter and tailights so the real question is as I stated before what should I do? I am at a loss and obviously going on a forum to ask for help isn't going to work

well, one of the first things you gotta remeber is, well i dont want to speak for anyone else cause thats not my place, is i am struggling to build my minitruck as is , let alone try to find my square, and make a living and take care of bills, family ect... so to look for handouts "or help,donations" is gonna be rough. im sure im not the only person out there that feels this way. by no means does it mean im cold hearted and wont help, it means shit, i want some handouts too !!!! hahaha jus kidding. plus, you have to remember, a majority of people arent from your location , so that means items would need to be shipped , which well damn near all the dually parts that you will prolly need will be heavy as hell meaning huge shipping cost. as i said this is purely my opinion, take it as you wish.

and no pictures, only words of want is a hard one to swallow also..
