82 Dually 4door bagged and body dropped

I am new here, From wichita ks. I picked this truck up about a yr ago for $500. I just got done building a 69 chevelle and now onto this. Truck has been body dropped and bagged already. Shaved firewall. I'm going through entire truck and re-doing what the previous owner had done to it. All the welds are bird shit and non structural. Front frame horns fell of with one small hit with hammer. I will be building an entire new rear section of frame starting from the back of cab. With be triangulated 4 link with a cantilever setup. As for a power plant im thinking of just a 454 or maybe diesel conversion. Interior will be 4 WWll bomber bucket seats. custom sheet metal dash and center console.

Just getting her into shop and starting the work will post pics as progress comes along.

Where previous owner had welded front frame horns on. Zero penetration and 1 nock it came off. Bird shit welds everywhere.



Cleaned up and tacked into place.



Will plate both sides with 3/16 steel rosette welds on outer side

Good luck on your journey, welcome to the forum. Some people shouldnt be allowed to buy welders, I'm a weld engineering tech. I think people should have to pass a welding sample before they can buy a welder, thats how we do it where i work. They can't weld on production with out passing the test. Sounds like you stole someone's project for $500, thats a good score. Good luck.

did this truck have a center console that went from the dash all the way to the back? i think i remember possibly seeing this truck on mautofied awhile back. body looks to be in good shape though. keep us posted on the progress

Good to know you're fixing it right instead of it being another pile of dangerous shit out on the road.
