I love custom wheels but I'm really thinking the stocker 16's fit the ratty theme of the truck.

But before I spend money on 4 more tires (already spent serious bucks on the front 2, hadda, no way I could drive it on what it had) I'm getting the itch to do something different.

If steel 19's existed I'd do that, I like how the Frito 19.5's look but there's no way I could squeeze a 19.5 tire in there nor do I want to.

Was kind of thinking about the direct bolt 19's that Trevor carries, the classic 8 hole Alcoa style or the spoke 056's. More money than I should spend on this old girl but man it sure is tempting. Maybe even 16" Alcoa 8 holers?

If I keep the steelies I was thinking I'd ditch the clamp rings and external thread lug nuts since I don't want to run the plastic center caps that need those lugs, and go to a 2 piece lug nut with the captive washer, to hide more of the truth of the truck's late model chassis. Hell, maybe even some chrome lug nuts and some trim rings.

Idk man id prolly keep the wheels thats on it....looks sweet like it is...are you planning on bagging it or leaving as is? You can always patina the wheels sand thru paint in few spots let um get alittle surface rust

I think you should absolutely sport it the way it is in the pic its bad ass! Killer idea to make it an old school dually!

have you looked into 17.5 alcoas? ive seen em on lowboys.. im not sure if they can be milled to 17" but its an option for a 10 lug 17", 4Gs for wheels is insane, mine price when done will be about 3K thats everything required to put them on the truck as well as black powdercoating. for all 6

edit just read theyre stud pilot, youd have to have a a set of adapers made. I dont see why this is a big deal, many automobile wheels are stud pilot an not hub pilot, why cant it work on these or even the 22 and 24?

comegetsome - eventually it'll be bagged, that's really the only way it can stay that low and still be driveable. I might try to cheat with some air shocks in the back to keep it from cutting the tires any more until I can get around to bagging.

mxmike - 17.5 Alcoas? If I'm going to pay to mill a wheel and buy adapters for semis, they won't be 17's. They'll be at least 19's.

As far as adapters the subject of running stud pilot wheels has come up, I think it's just that hub pilot adapters are already available and so are hub pilot wheels, easier to make the hub pilot adapters, though I'm pretty sure you could work around it if you absolutely just had to. Trevor had done something along those lines years ago as a test.
