Hi guys, started parts hunting for my sub dually swap and ran into a issue that has me frazzled.Got a chance to get a totally re-built dana 70 4:10,including brakes,springs,u-bolts,hangers and shocks,BUT its a ford. The bolt pattern is 8 on 6.5,same as a 14 bolt 8 on 6.5? That's my question. I gotta redo spring perches and shock mounts on the 14 bolt anyways. Gonna run steel dually wheels with Stainless steel simulators . Want to know if they are the same. Can get this rear end for a song, would really be the cats ass. One of you guys HAS to know the answer. This dually stuff is new to me. Just a side note too: I was ready to consign myself to running 2" spacers on my dana front end(never could get into that idea), so it came to me: why not lengthen my axle tubes by 2"s (gotta pull for 4:10 gear swap and 8 lug hubs/rotors) . Called superior axle today and they said no problem to make new axle shafts 2"s longer. YEA! Tony, thanks for your help bro. Dan

are you sure the ford is 8 x 6.5? if it is your wheels should bolt right up. what year truck did the axle come out of? i think 98++ they changed from 8 x 6.5 to 8 x 170mm. cheap insurance is bring one of your wheels and see if it slides on.

Big difference between the brands even when the bolt pattern is same, is the hub bore!!! Look out! The stock wheels are hub pilot, the lugs will not center the wheel up on the hub, they can't. It's all about the fit of the wheel to the hub. So if you run a Ford rear...you'll have to run Ford wheels.

Thanks guys, can count on you, that's something I should of known. Did score a beautiful set of 90 chevy dually fenders today. I'm in northern Michigan, thanks for the offer bro. Got a couple of 14 bolt 4:10 gear rear ends that I can get, but they will require re-building and brakes, wereas the ford was ready to bolt in. I can get it for 400.00, does that kind of price dictate that I run ford wheels in back? I'm not sure that that is that big a deal. Gonna run S.S. inserts, I got a almost new set of 16"chevy ones from a guy in detroit for 50.00 and I could get a set of ford ones from work at cost. I'm really torn,it's not allways about money, but I think I'm saving a thousand overall. Please chim in with your thoughts. Dan
