New project 1980 chev dually

Well finally found the right truck to start a father and son project with my kid.The project 1980 round headlight crew cab dually,plain jane,big block 3 spd auto with a dana 70 out back.The plan 6/8 drop,aftermarket wheels 16 or 17s and the reason for the project,we are going to drop an LS type engine (carb) and 700R4 tranny.Now the questions.What size of tire should I run,where should I buy the suspension parts.Please keep in mind I'm tring to do this on a shoestring budget lol

Sounds like great project. Buy parts at western chassis,belltech,check out summit racing,craigslist,truck forums ect.never know what u come across

I got the Flip and Spindles from a Shop in TN, but this is the parts I have-

I am going to have a notch built with 4x3 square tubing since I tow with my truck. And after talking to a few guys running the W/C 6/8 drop- they suggested not using the drop springs- that the ride is brutal. Cutting 1.5 rounds out of the stock spring gets the same drop, and rides better.

Or you can do Western spindles, springs, and flip(with bolt in C-Sections) for $942 shipped through Summit(same thing as the kit from western). And you could save money with using other brands that Summit sells.

The flip kit i think i can make.Has anyone just cut the hangers and moved them up some ??? When cutting the springs cut 1.5 coil of the top or bottom. God its terrible going through life being this stupid lol
