well i figured i would start a build thread. ive lurked here for a while and hafta say some of the pics and tech posts have been great! i recently traded my fullsize 89 gmc on 39' for a 85 crew cab long bed dually. truck was already on bags....boy what a mistake that was....i am going to spend just as much if not more time correcting shoddy work as i probably would have starting from scratch. anyways here are some pics of the truck and some of the rear setup, and the body rot....i'll get pics of the interior and engine bay tomorrow

well i dont have alot to update....mostly been trying to save money for parts. however i have scored a few essential items....i traded one of my AR-15's for a brand new 383 stroker motor running vortec heads. also scored a brand new holley carb for 100 bucks which is currently on my old worn out 350. found a set of brand new bellteck 3" drop spindles for $290 shipped off egay. and i have been slowly fixing some of the wiring in the truck. i have 3 windows now working, and picked up a new window motor for the fourth. also the power locks all work now. and i seem to have gotten all the lights working. still saving money to redo the front bags the right way and saving money for material to cut out this horrible bridge and notch in the truck now so i can get rid of the 2-link set up.

also have a lead on a complete dually bed uncut and with fenders intact and in good shape.

just trying to do little stuff while i slowly save money. man i wish i miss my younger days where i didnt have to worry about all the bills and could buy parts whenever i wanted. being a responsible adult sucks!!

Are you in Jacksonville Florida? Saw that multicolored dually on craigslist down this way. Good luck with you project. Whay don't you want the two link in the back? I think that's the route I'm gonna go. My last dually had that set up and I didn't have a problem with it.

yessir i am in jax.....did you see the dually on craigslist? the guy i traded for this one had another parts truck that is red and green with a black hood... as far as the 2 link goes. its not so much the link itself but moreso the way everything was done and set up. in the front the didnt even set the bag in cups, the bottom of the bag rides in the original spring pocket on the LCA and actually rubs the arm....totally unsafe.

the bridge itself in the rear isnt even lined up...with it fully aired out the axle actually hits the front of the notch. and the 2 link is welded to the axle and im pretty sure they didnt use a angle finder at all...has some serious driveline vibration. plus even though i havent taken good measurements, i do believ the axle is sitting at an angle considering one wheel sits about an inch or so forward of the other if you look at the fenders. it was done by some backyard hackjob unfortunately.

i traded a good running 89 k5 jimmy on 39's that had a ton of new parts for this thing and regret it now....i let my excitement of owning a CCLB dually shadow my judgement. but whats done is done and now i either try to pawn it off on someone else or i correct everything and make it right.

haha i just noticed that in my original pics, the parts truck the guy had was in one of them.....he still has it on craigslist for 1000.....body isnt too bad on it....it has a running 454/400 but the motor needs a rebuild in a bad way. originally he was supposed to trade me both trucks for my jimmy but backed out on the parts truck when i showed up to do the deal.....then got buttsore when i told him i was taking my warn winch and my subs and amps out since they were worth over 3 grand themselves

When you cut out that notch I'll take the brass knuckle plate in the center if ya wanna cut it out....will look good hanging on my shop wall......you know my boy J.R. Cook from down in J-Ville? black dually with the spoke 22s on it
