o shit...that sux. Nope, haven't seen it myself but I did see someone posting on FSC with some grenaded lifters in their Vortec 7.4, but theirs literally came apart from the opposite end.

Several people are telling me to just swap out Cam and
Lifters as long as the Cam bearings are not scarred up?

I don't know sh!t about motors, so advice appreciated.

Looking at GM crate motor (Stock) instead of changing out a
few of the internals and hoping it's fixed. Clock has 115K on
it, so going with the complete replacement may make more
sense. My local dealer said it would run me around $4K. The
only issue I have with that is we have had a bad year and I
don't have the money to do it because of other snafu's.

I had to empty my 72 fund because the Dually broke, & then
the 99 Daily. Fixed Dually and it broke again. (All in 3 weeks)

How did you know it was a lifter/cam problem? Noise? Performance? I have the same truck and its making a tinny metal sound "like a bunch of ball bearings are jumping around in there" but it only does this under load and at about 2500 to 3500 rpm. Its comming from the top of the engine. I am guessing that I have the same problem.

Also if you swap the engine or just the cam make sure to change the oil cooler and the lines to it. All the metal has to go some where, most of it sits in the galley, the pan and the oil cooler. You will loose the new motor if you do not do this. C

Sounded like a broken valve spring or loose rocker arm,
parked it, tore into it, and found what you see above.
