Hey everyone. Well the time has come. I have finally got to the place in my life that I can begin to restore my truck. 1986 Mazda B2000 LX Cab Plus, Black & Silver two tone. All original and I bought it in 1988 in Huntsville, AL when I was in High School. Drove her for years well into my marriage. Parked her because she got to the point that she needed to be restored and I didnt have the money with a new family. Its that time... I can now start to restore her. I do have a question for the experts... My engine was the 2.0 L (1,998 cc) 5 speed manual gearbox . It really needed more power even for a smaller truck. I want to upgrade the engine to a year that used fuel injection and that will fit my truck with out changing drivetrain. Can any one recommend a possible engine option or should I just replace it with the same size original motor?

Welcome to the site man. It's crazy how the truck has gotten old enough that it can actually be restored. Mazda offered a 2.2 that is built like your 2.0 that has fuel injection but it was mostly offered yo north in colder climates. Your other option is to swap everything over to a 2.6 out of a b2600i. You have to swap everything over though, even the tranny. If you could source the fi stuff for a 2.2, ecu and all, you could install it on your 2.0.

Welcome man..also another option is the kia sportage motor swap. And a driveline wouldn't behard to get modded or customized to fit any swap. A 13n rotory motor would be cool too

Oh yeah that's right and the KIA swap will bolt up to your tranny. You will need the full motor and wiring harness, ecu, and other small things. Finding a cheap sportsmen on Craigslist could be a good way to do it
