I realized I never introduced myself! About 6 months back, I acquired an 84 Sundowner for $400. I was just looking for a running driving small pick up and didn't really care what it was. After a couple of week of driving it, I started to grow fond of my beater. After lowering it and a few other small mods, I really started liking it.

A couple of months ago an 83 Sundowner Deluxe came into my work. Working A/C, pretty straight body, 118,000 miles, clean interior. I was able to work a deal with my boss to trade my truck for the Deluxe. All I had to do was do a tranny swap!

I have definitely developed an addiction! Everyone has been a great help on here!

There's two 83/84 trucks in the Prescott Valley U-Pick, have you been there?

Then you likely know me by sight: the REALLY good-looking guy, like the clone of James Bond/Russell Crowe/Ben Affleck.

Or - more likely - the guy who always wears the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball cap !!!

So why did U-Pick get rid of about 10 Mazda B-trucks in the last year ??? Some still had some pretty good parts on them.

I actually took a photo or two of your truck last time I was at U-Pick, didn't know if it belonged to an employee or a customer. I should be up to U-Pick in a few weeks, I live part time in Chino Valley, mine is a 1988 B2200 Cab Plus, blue, but I likely would be driving a '98 Frontier that day (you guys need more Frontiers there too).

Do you still have the '67 VW? I still have my 1971 VW Convertible.

Hahaha! Well I'm the short bald guy who vaguely resembles Tom Cruise .

Unfortunately, we just go down the line and crush cars regardless if they still are complete.

I may remember at one point saying to my coworker, "That guy is taking a picture of my truck......"

I wish I still had my VW! It's long gone.

I just assumed that vehicles with decent parts still would be just left there, so parts would "always" be available.

I read in Popular Mechanics though that the real money at the parts yards is in the metal recycling, and that most anything that gets sold is just "gravy". Have you ever thought about doing your own side business of buying parts there for members who need them, and shipping them off? Right now someone is looking for an AC relay, someone else for a 4WD bumper end.

I'm PM you in advance before I go there next time.

That is pretty much right. We would only pay X dollar amount based on how much we would get for it if we just crushed it right there on the spot and sent it to Phoenix.

I could do that. As long as it isn't something too large. I'll start trolling the wanted section! Hahaha
