I'm a new member from Fort Collins, CO (30 min from WY). I was looking for a truck for work, to get my trail motorcycles to the trailheads with friends, and to toss the mountain bike in the back, etc. I was looking for something ~1990 vintage and found a b2600i 4x4 in amazing condition. 130k, 5-speed, everything works (except a few switches need cleaned) and the body is rock solid. I frickin love the truck... but I do have some lifter noise. I've been digging into the forums and was wondering:
1. What is the best approach to fix the lifter problem for the long term?
2. Has anyone successfully used oil additives for a temporary fix? ...wouldn't mind getting through winter w/o digging into the truck just yet.
3. Can anyone point me to the "valve eliminator" kit online? I would like to check this out and can't seem to find it.
4. Where do you folks recommend I purchase parts? - especially lifter related for now.
5. What service manual is recommended?
Thanks for any input!!
