This is my first B-Series truck and first Mazda. It is a 1986 Mazda B2000 base 5 speed. all stock. I bought it from a nice elderly man named Ken. Ken had gained possession of the truck when his brother had died of cancer. It is in my possession now and my plans are such:
Fix the current problems and get motor running Correctly.
Repair all stock body panels and restore whats there.
Enjoy truck and save for and plan an FE3 (Kia Swap)

The only Problem i know of is that the timing belt broke while he was in the post office parking lot, and just the fact it has been sitting for six months without starting. It has around 240,000 miles on it, but most of these were daily commute on a highway. Here it is, I hope all enjoy.

This was the worst rust found so far.

Looks like a decent start now just hope none of the valves are bent. It was idling when It broke I presume? I know these motors are non resistance but if the rpms where up there a ways the compression could've bent a few valves... Keep us posted and welcome!

thanks for the quick response and advice. I will be sure to check the valves. The previous owner did stress to me that he was idilling when the belt broke, so i hope everything is ok. Ill be sure to document and get some progress on it soon. Again, thanks for the words

Congratulations, you have a bit of work to do, but when you are done you will have a good truck under you.

I honestly don't think the valves would've bent providing it actually was at idle when it broke! I just don't want u to have to tear it down after getting it running.. (not that it would run good with bent valves!) Post up some pics of that motor when u start tearing into it!
