I'll start by saying Hello.

Today I bought my first ever Mazda. For $600, I bought a little 1993 B2200 5spd RWD with 260000km on it. It's a Reg Cab with a short box in "Rusty Gray". It's got a few issues but what $600 dollar vehicle doesn't. I needed a budget truck to haul around my mountain bikes and daily drive when I saw this.

So I took it for a quick test drive within the city and gave the man his money. The truck drives well in the city, but when I got onto the highway at 100-110kmh (65-70mph) I started to get a serious humming noise from the truck. I managed to drive it home (100km away) and parked it. It's was 9:30 at night when I got home so I'm going to look at it in the morning.

My first thought would be the Drive Shaft Center Support Bearing, and possible u joint. but I'm not sure with these trucks. Possibly the tranny or engine mounts. I just dont know..... Can anyone think of anything else I should check while I'm at it?

I'm definitley going to start a build thread eventually on this truck as it progresses. In the meantime does anyone know of any cheap / inexpensive upgrades for a 93 B2200? Or can anyone direct me to a website that might have info on junk yard upgrades for these trucks? Thanks again guys and I hope to post more soon.

i would say your on the right track cause i was thinking driveshaft or carrier bearing too. when i bought mine for 400 bux the carrier bearing was shot. and my miles were about the same as yours. i put a used one in for ten bux at the pik and pull and problem solved for now.

Welcome to the site, you are on the site!

I know it's easier to keep things all in one thread but if you have other questions for upgrades it's best to start a new thread for the question. Also check out the rides section at the top, I'm sure you can get a lot of ideas from looking at other members rides.

Welcome!

There is another site, mazdatrucking.com. Most guys there keep their rides stock.

Both sites have a great group of guys looking to help and share their ideas.

Thanks guys and I appreciate the welcomes. Suprisingly enough I've already scoped out a lot of the members rides. There's some good ideas for sure, but I'll leave the modding for a bit.

I think I'll start with replacing the Drive Shaft Support bearing and doing all the preventative maintenance and go from there. Thanks again guys. I'll start a build thread soon enough.
