I have been stalking this site for a while and decided its time to get involved. I few years ago I borrowed $900 to a buddy who bought a 90 B2200 from his grandpa and when he brought it home it was a gem. For Minnesota a truck this old with no rust is rare. He drove it for a few years ran it into a guard rail and then the head gasket went and he bought something different. He asked me to help him bring it to the junk yard since I had a truck to pull it. I asked him what was wrong with it and I laughed and said sure we can bring it to my garage. I bought a $25 gasket and put it in last September. The day I put in the gasket I moved my sis in law wondering if the gasket was going to hold the whole time. I never watched the temp gauge so closely. Its a wonder I didnt get in an accident. Interesting enough Uhall was going to give me a 6x12 trailer I laughed and took the 5x8. I drove all winter with only $25 into it. Now that its spring... (its snowing outside today forecast up to 12 inches) I want to fix it up. I got a new front end for it and a ball joints tie rod ends exc. I also bought a header for it because it was cheaper then replacing the cracked manifold. I haven't put any of it in yet because it keeps snowing outside and I have a small garage and do most of my work in the driveway.

This truck is all stock now I know the normal mods people do Weber carb, pace setter header and free flowing exhaust. It has a new stock exhaust and I don't think its worth it to change that. It has 143,000 miles on it what should I do to it to keep it running and improve gas mileage with out spending a fortune. I love driving this truck and want it to last. I would like to fix things when its worm out so I am not freezing my fingers off working on the truck I do that on my snowmobile already. I am getting around 19-21mpg and would like to get at least 25. I am hoping when the summer blend gas arrives its closer. I am interested in what you guys have done and work for you.
Thanks I look forward to learning some new tricks from some of you b???? veterans.

you can check things like timing, clean egr and air control valves, I normally clean my plugs every couple months, simple things like that. welcome to the scene, I though I got a good deal on my truck for $400 bux. lol

If you haven't re-torqued the head, you'll want to do that too... unless you want to replace the gasket again.
