G'day all,
Most of my motoring history has been driving a Mazda.
I've owned A GLC 323, HB-SHE Cosmo, Series 2 Rx-7, HB-ES 929, four BA Astina/Lantis, a DY Mazda 2 and an MZR-CD Mazda 3 (my current daily). I've probably forgotten one or two
On Saturday I collected my latest, an '86 B2000 pickup.

First job is to make sure the brakes work as well as stock B2000 brakes can or maybe use the larger '89 B series 2WD disks and callipers.
Followed closely by replacing the rubber window channels and pedal pads
Then suspension and steering. I've ordered a full set of Bilstein shocks and will order 2" lower front knuckles and 3" lower rear springs
Then the fun starts... Power steering, air-conditioning and the FE3 I've had for a while has to go in with a 4-speed auto.
Then I'm looking to try to respray it myself.

The more I learn the more I want to push the envelope

Cheers,

I miss my old HB-SN2 Cosmo, nothing like a 12a turbo with no intercooler to slow down boost

I'll do you one better

Had an extend port 13B turbo in place of the 12A 6PI

Trying to get the B2K into reasonable condition. I've found a gauge cluster with a tacho which I've fitted along with a new speedo cable. The old cable was resting on the exhaust and had almost burnt through.
The only thing on the dash that does not work now is the vent door control but that's not going to be fixed until I replace the rubber door seals and window baily channel.

Welcome Cosmo Dude!

Is the malfunctioning dash vent on the driver's side or the passenger side? Driver's side is easy to get to, pass. side you will need to remove the dash to unbolt it from the dash, as it has 4 screws that attach it from inside the dash and you can't get to them (all of them anyway) with just removing the glove box unfortunately!

Thanks, it's the main centre control for the foot/face/defrost vent that's busted. I haven't taken a good look at it yet so I'm hoping it's just a clip popped off and not an actual breakage.

Update: I'm in the final throws of removing the belt driven radiator fan and going electric.
Why? Because it releases 1-2HP and drops 3lbs from the engine.
Shopping list (helps if the HB 929 was released in your market)
* Radiator fan from HB
* Thermostat housing from HB
* Upper alternator bracket from HB, mine's from a Turbo
* Normally open thermo switch M16 x 1.5 like Tridon TFS139
* Normally open relay with a bracket
* 750mm V-belt for alternator
* Wire, terminals, tape and fuse
* Optional and probably a good idea to upgrade your alternator

I've completed the wiring and have been waiting for the upper alternator bracket before doing all of the mechanical stuff. This weekend should see the job done if the rain stays away.

I also have a set of 17x7 WEDS to go on once I have supporting rubber.

Well this morning I went to go and pickup some bits for todays project and found a flat tyre. I recently picked up some 17x7 WEDS from Yahoo japan so I put some air in the flat and had new rear tyres fitted...

NEEDS LOWERED

I then started to do the electric fan conversion and after swapping out the engine brackets, buying another fan belt because I lost the old one I found that the radiator so this is my progress.
