what's up bscene. i've been lurking, and now have finally starting wrenching on my latest project.

i'm looking to achieve the stance look; and am looking at suspension and camber solutions. has anyone completely gutted the torsion bars and thrown in coilovers? can the rear wheels be cambered? will i have to install[weld] an IRS-Frankenstein from another RWD vehicle?

i'm currently running 15X10s on 225/50/15s with a very mild stretch and pretty aggressive poke. for those of you who noticed; i've fitted mk1 golf roundeye headlights in; and the corresponding grille pieces. i want to eventually put a mk1 complete badgeless grille...

how she started; extremely mashed.

Welcome to the Bscene! I was in the 416 a couple of weeks ago for the music festival at Yonge-Dundas Square. Yes you will have to go with an irs if you want the rear to camber. You can get plenty of camber out of the front with the torsion bar suspension but will eat up tires.

I dig both rides. Love the round mk1 lights and poke.

Camber in the rear? Shit. A ford 8.8 irs setup will do the trick

re: lights/poke. thanks. i like things to be slightly different, and i'm used to people not being pleased with the results...

re: Ford 8.8 IRS. what truck can this be sourced from?

I got the 8.8 from a ford thunderbird

did you have to swap the whole rear-diff and rework the driveshaft?

i'm also looking for some engine mods; don't really know much about the 2.6 but it would appear there's not much in the way of parts...

has anyone bolted in a cold-air intake? what was used; diameters; etc...

i was also wondering about deleting the silencer that branches off the air intake... that little black box...

she seems to be running okay; but i've got the typical bearing noises coming from the tranny when i'm off the throttle in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th... any quick solutions for that? or is rebuild the only way? what other transmissions/diff setups have people gone with? rx-7? miata?

Yes u will have to have the yoke welded on the driveline and balanced.

I believe i used 2.5" piping and made a cold air intake back when i had the 2600i engine in there still.

As for trans ive heard rx7 and 2600i trans are a lot the same bellhousing and all but i have no first hand experience with this other than i am running the rx7 engine/trans on my truck

dooooodd!! how did you do your headlights?? ive been wanting to convert to round for a long time now!!

btw im mexipoking too!! haha

first off. i'm liking your truck. what size rims/tires are you running? most ppl really dislike the mexipoke thing; but hey... to each his own, i prefer em' way out than sucked all the way in...

re: converting to round headlights. it's still a work in progress; but i didn't really like how some people sunk round headlights into the square openings of the stock grille. i felt it needed a bezel or something to complete the look, and couldn't get my hands on any C-10 [or similar old school chevy truck] lights to do the job.

i opted for some vw mk2 golf headlights; which have mounting plates as well. i recently scored some chrome bezels [inners and outers] from an old porsche 944 at the scrapyard; i plan to retrofit those pieces in as well.

what you'll need:
+pair of round headlights [vw ones are good, because they have the mounting hardware and use H4 bulbs]
+vw grille [i'm still looking for a badgeless mk1 grille to complete the look, my body guy butchered mine.]
+jig-saw/grinder/cutting disc [whichever you prefer]
+at least 16 bolts; washers nuts etc... make sure they are at least 4" long.
+rubber hosing or something that will fit snug on the bolts.

what'll you'll need to do.
my truck was smashed in; so everything was slightly off. i'm sure if your nose is straight; you'll be able to use 99% of the existing holes.

a) remove the existing grille and headlights.
b) mount in the vw lights; hand tighten only.
c) you'll notice that the vw grilles are too small; so it'll require some creativity to make it work. i've now learned; don't cut the gills in the centre of the grille; rather trim from either side to build up the gaps. trying to patch the gills is... stupidly annoying.
d)trim the bezels, keeping in mind you're going to mold the corners from the old grille to hold the corner lights. i eventually plan to fill those corners in completely and get rid of those lights.
e)mount the lights and tighten them up; then mount the molded corner/bezel pieces.
f) trim the rest of the mazda grille; and mount it on top of the bezels.

i'm sure this wasn't the best write-up, but i'm more than happy to answer anyone's questions or make diagrams to explain. i came from a lowrider forum where everyone was very helpful; i intend to keep that torch lit.

my house? your house. just... we mexipoke 'round hurr!

P.S anyone in the ontario area with a flat hood for sale?
