Hey guys, I'm new to the forum (obviously) and new to the B-series scene. I've done my fair share of research on mini trucks and air ride and finally bought my first one. It was on the cover of Mini Truckin in 2001 and has done more sitting under a cover then it has got drove. 98xxx miles. When I picked it up it ran great and drove great as well. I drove it an hour and 45 minutes home only to try to fire it up to pull it in the garage and it wouldn't start. I knew it needed a new starter so I banged on the starter and finally got it to crank over enough to fire. But then it didn't want to go in gear. I finally got it in gear and it started creeping forward with the clutch pedal to the floor. So I tapped the brakes and it killed it. I had to leave town right after that but I'm worried it is something major. I'm hoping its just a clutch and starter, not the rear main or slave or anything else. Could anyone give me some assistance? Thanks guys. Pics soon to come

Check the basics, fuel and charge. Any vehicle that has sit-itis will need a good shot of fuel and a good battery charge. Does the fuel gauge work? Once you're sure you have that, check the fluid level in the small reservoir on the firewall closer to the outside on the driver's side. That's clutch pedal juice. Hope you can get it sorted.

Thanks man. I think I have narrowed it down to the slave cylinder or master cylinder. I know it's getting fuel and charging, I drove it two hours to get it home and the fuel gauge worked fine and it never stumbled. I know it's charged because when I turn the key on my compressor runs and the stereo works, and if I bang on the starter enough it tries to kick it over. So after a starter and examining the clutch system I think it will be drivable and ready for my next additions.

My truck had the same problem, with holding the clutch pedal to the floor and it would slowly engage and get stuck into gear. I ended up just buying new master and slave cylinders just because they're both cheap and to rule out the problem being a broken part. It's most likely the master cylinder because the slave cylinder is a pretty simple part and isn't likely to break or malfunction. I replaced my slave cylinder and that didn't fix anything, it still did the same thing. After a rather interesting trip to advanced auto parts with sticking gears, rapid clutch pedaling, and stop and go traffic. I replaced my master cylinder after properly bench bleeding it, then bled the system. This is a pretty easy fix, nothing major. It could just need more fluid, bleed the system, or both.

That's what my plan is. But I have to get a starter on mine first haha. But thanks for the input, you basically just threw out any doubt I had of it being anything else.
