Just purchased my first Mazda two days ago - an '83 B2000 Sundowner with 84,000 original miles!! I have had one car (a 2000 Honda Civic) for my entire driving life, but I'd been wanting a small truck for years so I finally decided to treat myself. I was looking at Toyotas initially, but then this gal turned up and was too great to pass up. I have never had reason to know or care about a car before, but I am pretty mad for this one already. Excited to find this forum and its many threads of knowledge and enthusiasm.

Howdy!

This is the car. I don't have any major plans at present - just drive it, use it, take care of it. It's in great shape but there are a number of quick fixes I'd like to do: The dome light cover is missing and needs replaced (anyone here got any?), the driver's side interior door handle is snapped, the hood could use a fresh coat. One project I was already thinking about however - the cabin is VERY dark in the dark. All I get is the faint glow of the console light and some eerie green hole in the dash that sort of coughs a very weak light near the shifter. I'd like to see if I could brighten the cabin up a touch. Are they all this dark standard, or might I be missing some lights?

Cheers.

Thought I'd go ahead and throw this up here since I'm having a helluvah time tracking parts down for earlier than '86 - LOOKING FOR: interior door handles for blue 1983 B2000 Sundowner, interior dome light, and recommendations for metal window crank replacements.

And/also since bringing her home I've: swapped the spark plugs and cables, done a valve adjustment (they were crazy off), swapped out those 17" Chevy rims (they were so wide they were actually cutting into the suspension on sharp turns) for the original Mazda 14"s, replaced brake pads (the factory caliper on this was unlike anything I or my mechanic had ever encountered). Working on some custom seat covers this week. Having a blast with this thing.
