I think I did this backwards. I bought the engine first, now I need a truck.

I purchased a Mazda 2.0L turbodiesel (RF-CDT) from a Japanese Mazda Bongo. Local place had a bunch of them come in, but they didn't exactly fly off their shelves. Offered about half of what they were asking and took it home - couldn't pass on the price.

It has been sitting in my garage for about 5 months, but in that time I've been able to sort out the wiring and got it up and running on a test stand. I've been sourcing the bits and pieces I'll need to complete a swap (various sensors that weren't included) and now I'm at the point where I need a truck to drop it into.

Going to keep my eye open for a plus cab on Craigslist. Until then I'll be browsing around these great forums and getting myself up to speed on the B-series trucks. Only owned Dodge and Jeep trucks so I'm getting into new territory here.

The engine I bought traced back to a 2005 Mazda Bongo Brawny van (only sold in Japan). The engine code is RF-CDT. It has a RF block, but that's about the only similarity to the RF diesel found in some Mazda's and Fords in the USA. It's a common-rail, turbocharged diesel with a drive-by-wire accelerator. This same engine is used in Europe in a lot of the Mazda 3, 5, and 6 passenger vehicles, but the engine code for those vehicles (FWD) is MZR-CD. I haven't been able to find very reliable power output data, but the European Mazda 3, 5 and 6's with this engine do 120HP/230ft-lb. I believe my engine is de-tuned and is slightly less than that.

I also realized I made a mistake in the first post (I've since corrected it). This is a 2.0L engine, NOT a 2.2L.
