Hey everyone, brand spakin new guy here just joined.

I got my b2200 a while ago with unknown engine issues, finally got around to tearing it open this week & the further into it I got the more I noticed this was gonna be fun! Im not new to cars but I am new to these cool little trucks so hefty amounts of learning will be had!
I look forward to talking to & getting to know some of you peoples & possibly even meeting up with if theres any locals here too.

Anyway, onto the good stuff.

The head is done for, cracked & all sorts of jank. The block I hope theres still life in it im going to take it to the machine shop & see what they say.
I got me a gasket set from ebay coming in, not sure about the headgasket tho anyone have good/bad luck using those?
Im also thinking about picking up the weber carb & pacesetter header for it too.

Anyway, sup everyone!!!

Don't think I am an expert on engines by no means so take my info with a grain of salt.
Based off most of my research the head gaskets on these seem to mess up constantly.
I personally have a b2000 84' and it leaks oil from the head, has ever since I started driving it.
I was told by a few people not to get it fixed as the new found pressure could cause more damage.
Welcome to the forums man!
Good luck adapting to the Mazda B-Live.

If it's not a FelPro set, then I would consider returning it (if possible) or reselling it and using a FelPro or Mazda head gasket instead. They are more expensive but you don't want to go cheap on a head gasket. Your time and labor is more valuable than the few bucks you'll save with another brand - never mind the inconvenience of having to do the job over again if it fails.

I think there is a good reason why FelPro and Mazda gaskets cost more - It's because they're worth it. I'm at 214K miles on my original head gasket.

Bad news, took the block to the machine shop earlier today & the guy suggested it wasn't worth machining. Kinda expected so cant say im too surprised.

Before I scour the local yards for a usable longblock, I was wondering about potential swaps. Since you guys know this scene better than I do, are there any "easier" swaps people have done to these? Ones that have required minimal fabrication? etc etc

Just wondering.
Anyway, thx for the welcome & input so far!

Kia swap?
Sounds interesting, out of the suv im guessing?

Ive seen a few videos of people with a sbc in em, know of anyone here with one & a thorough worklog of it?
Going to borrow a friends 350 mockup engine & see how well it fits.

Also, with that question. How well do these rear ends hold up to added power?
Thx

Only update I cleaned everything engine bay. Degreaser & power washer hooked up to hot water!!!
