hey whats up everyone i stumbled across the site online and figured i would introduce myself.
currently i am looking for a mazda b2000,b2200 or b2600 extended cab truck. got plans to either build up a 2.2 and turbo it, or do a swap with a newer stock power plant that has higher hp and mpg rating then original. i haven't decided yet i will know what direction i am going when i get the truck.

im pretty good at figuring out if a vehicle is good or not like frame good or bad or body panels rust and rott etc. is there anything in particular i should be looking for on these trucks.

other then that i cant wait to get my truck i have been hunting for the right one for some time.

You might want to speed up your search... they're getting harder to come by.

i agree with that 100%. if you dont move fast enough on these trucks they will move on their own. the good ones seem to sell in less the 20 hours on craigslist. im searching daily for about 5 to 8 hours a day for the right one i have 2 right now lined up for this weekend. hopefully if all goes as planed my search will be over.

well I went and picked up my truck today. 1992 b2200 extended cab. good body and chassis/frame. the timing belt went on the motor so the motor needs to be replaced. I gotta pull the motor next week. might do a rebuild if possible if not then something else is going in there. I have to get the stickers off , clean the truck real good and see what direction im going to go. definitely going to have to throw some wheels on. the truck is screaming for a drop or some bags. here is a picture of the truck. more to come with progress.

Whoa - contrary to some written information, these B2200 engines are NOT interference engines, so maybe you just need to replace the timing belt (and maybe tensioners, etc.).

And my '88 has those same wheels, and I've had it 19.5 years, nothing wrong with them. Truck looks nice, how many miles on it, and hows the interior?

You should also list your location in your "signature" here on Control Panel.

hi Cusser thanks for stopping by and informing me. I was unsure if they were valve interference or not (I didn't look it up yet). the guy I bought the truck from said he bought it to basically do what you explained and the belt tensioner etc. but when his mechanic got in there there was some other issues.(possible bent valves? might need a new head)
maybe the guy that was doing the work for him didn't know what he was doing. ill take a look of whats going on in there if i can get away with doing minimal that would be great. i never would turn my back on a good engine. but if its a total loss i have a few ideas of what im looking to achieve with this truck.. and on the wheels you are right they function properly and look good. im just looking for a little bit bigger of a rim maybe 17 -18 inch.
i am one of those with the mod bug but itry to keep it simple and efficient. yes i have to update my sig or my profile.. i am from new jersey. thanks again

Take a look at this thread - a toothless timing belt is the guy's issue.

He could see that the belt wasn't "apart" by taking off the upper timing cover (his distributor wasn't turning), but only after he got the front of the engine apart could he see that the timing belt had lost teeth.
