Hi all, thanks for running this site. It's Awesome. I have recently bought a 92 b2600i base 4x4 320000km Jan 2014, not running. "Ad said "blown head gasket $400". Well let the fun begin. I'm thinking 4x4, $400 why not need a project. Head was laying on the front seat along with all the bits and bobs (total mess) Head turned out being cracked (3rd cylinder between intake and exhaust valve) New head with valves (500.00) had to reuse rockers, hlas(should of replaced hlas!) fixed computer (200.00) ran for 5min turned off and would not start again. Fuel pump wiring broke (through tank connector)(rebuilt sending unit) (40.00 mpv pump) Ok now lets get this thing stuck. Well I am very impressed with this little truck. Got her stuck a couple times (still learning 4x4 technics) and I got to get tires. Hauled close to 3/4 cord of wood with canopy on though (wicked). Everytime I walked away I found myself looking back with a smile. I got me a new toy and it ain't cheep. Let the mods begin, maybe (arp) rd123 rear diff lock?, lift kit?, hummm both yes both . Thanks for having me everybody. Keep her rubber side down.

Congratulations on your B2600i. Sounds like you have the bad stuff behind you. You'll have some minor glitches along the way, but having a new head is a great starting point. By the way, make sure your cooling system is in top notch shape. Water Pump, fan (NO CRACKS) fan clutch, fan shroud, thermostat, radiator, and hoses - ESPECIALLY ALL THE LITTLE ONES BEHIND THE ENGINE THAT ARE OFTEN NEGLECTED AND HAVE NEVER BEEN CHANGED. They will leak just like the big radiator and heater hoses and cause you to overheat. You don't want to take a chance with the precious new head!

Looking forward to seeing your mods! In the mean time, post up some pictures of you new toy!

Good luck trying to find a locking diff in North America. You don't have a Toyota... and there's not much in the way of aftermarket for deez Mazdas.

Yup, your absolutely right Scotch, I replaced both molded hoses at the back of the head, also: thermostat, radiator and cap (had a dry green trail running down the from the neck.), alt/water pump belt (like new), plugs, wires. There was a little tag with the new head that said your "old head cracked for a reason and your new head will crack under the same operating conditions". Got me really thinking about what caused this thing to crack. Lack of maintenance, leaky rad cap...low coolant aahhh.... computer failing caused fuel injectors to fire only for three cylinders causing it to over heat. I believe it was all of the above. Runs good now except for a rapping sound at higher rpm, around 3100 under load, no missing, will hold speed nicely, just loud. I thought it might be the balance chain. It reminded me of a dry hla but not constant. I tightened up the chain, adjuster is almost at max now. The chain was really loose. I'll test drive tomorrow, and let you know. Bare with me on the pics. It doesn't like some them and won't upload. Here's engine compartment and tires I'm running now. I got to retake full body picture, won't upload. later

Hello everybody, quick update. Little truck still runs (most of the time). During the summer we had some hot days. The motor would stop running once it had reached operating temp. No spark and you could hear the fuel pump relay drop out. No start for a least 15-20 mins. once it cooled down it would start back up. Through testing I found out the distributer (optical) was intermittent signal. After a while I found that it would start right back up after about 6 complete key cycles. Ordered a remaned from the U.S. ($300.00) I'll update once I have replaced it. Oh got new tires (Big o Big foot) 30x 9.5. Keep smiling all.

Well... Merry Christmas everybody. Hope your projects are going well. Just a quick update, I bought a reman distributer from rock auto ($250.00 can) works great, got rid of the hot soak no start condition I was having and got rid of the miss as well. (during the no start condition I was able to re-start the truck within 6 key on/off cycles...(might help someone diagnosis later). All exhaust pulses are pushing outward now. Whew I was starting to get worried that I wouldn't figure this thing out. Got a tree for the kids the other day. (check out the pic.) The big-o tires look good but are old and the rubber does not bite as much as one would think (only 31s) need bigger. I'm really thinking of getting the suspension lift from (ironman4x4). I'll let you know. Just wanted to drop a quick update on the little truck that could. "Find a trail and get dirty, you can always get towed out.
