I was wondering which one is better or if there are any other suggestions as an engine. I have a 1992 Mazda b2200 standard cab.

that depends efi or carb personally id go with whatever makes you happier. both price and ease of working on for yourself. also smog laws.

350=easier
5.3=better

350 is old news now, the new gen GM engines have a lot of aftermarket and are making tons of reliable power. But the biggest question is how are you going to fuel it? If carb, then 350, they came stock that way, and easy to install if carb'd. If EFI, 5.3 is the definite way to go.

5.3's are a dime a dozen, aftermarket support for any LSx motor is thru the roof. Hot Rod just did an article on how much power a bone stock junkyard 5.3 could make before it came apart. They bolted on two HUGE turbos, used a aftermarket computer, but everything else was bone stock with 100k miles. Long story short, their junkyard 5.3 turned out to be a 4.8 & it made 1200+ hp, on 6 different pulls before it chunked a ring.

5.3, or any LSx motor is the way to go if you're looking for GM power.
