Alright, So my intentions are to fix this up over the next year and hand it over to my son as a first vehicle!! However,,, until then, its my toy and he watch's and learns!!! lol.
Picked it up off a guy at work for 800.00 bucks, clean title, never wrecked, never lowered! But defiantly drove!
Sorry, 1987 Mazda B2200. 5spd, 179000, NO SMOKE!! weber (half asss job,, I'll get in to that).
I can run no emissions where I'm at! FYI
So when they put the Weber on (32/36), they left everything hanging and some plugged and some not. Well, I didn't like that so I have taken out almost everything I could so far. All intake vac plugged off, Only vacuum line is Vac advance from distributer to carb. Removed Chatcoal tank. etc. But now I'm to a point where I need some help....
O2 sensor??? Do I need it? Can I plug it?
Somewhere I heard about a green wire that goes to Temp sensor.... Is it located on right side going towards the front? If so its not hooked up to anything.
Also, something weird! I bought a Tach so I could watch the RPM's. Equus at Oreilly's,, directions say to hook up to (-) on the ignition coil,, which I did but no reading,,, so I thought for kicks I would try it on the (+) side and Wa La it works. But holy cow my idle is at 1500, whats normal???? Is my coil on backwards? IDK? Help here please.... Also, on my weber It seems to have a place for an electric choke, But nothing is hooked up to it,,, Is that causing my high idle? Maybe? I'm in Texas, should I even need a choke? My understanding is that it is always ON unless it turns itself OFF???? If not plugged in anywhere.......ummm... Am I on the right track?
Best Catalytic Converter? or no Cat? Exhaust idea's?
I've always been a GM guy, This is new to me but I've always wanted to build a mini truck! Always went up, never went down!! Keep in mind, I'm not going to have it scraping the ground!! I don't want cops pulling my son over for no reason later on!
Oh God! Help here please,,,, SEATS!!!!!!! The ones in it are half wired in!!!!
Let me think,,,,, I know I'll have to rebuild the upper half of the block before I hand it over, but until then I want to play! After that,, Time to baby it!
So far I did...
Accel Coil, $ Wires, plugs, cap, rotor, pvc, thermostat, cap'd a few more vac lines, Moved the distributer advance vac down to the bottom of the plate on the carb! (truck runs better).

Until I figure more out about this stuff,,, Im going to do both sides, front wheel bearings and brakes! I've got a growl or grinding noise!

RESPONSES IN CAPITALS. I HAVE 1988 B2200 WITH WEBER.

Only vacuum line is Vac advance from distributer to carb.
GOOD

O2 sensor??? Do I need it? Can I plug it?
YOU DON'T NEED THE OXYGEN SENSOR. I'D JUST LEAVE IT THERE AS THE PLUG IN THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD, CUT OFF THE WIRE. IF YOU SCREW UP THE THREADS REMOVING IT, THEN YOU'LL WISH YOU LEFT IT IN PLACE.

Somewhere I heard about a green wire that goes to Temp sensor.... Is it located on right side going towards the front? If so its not hooked up to anything.
THAT'S OK. THERE WAS A SENSOR FOR THE COMPUTER, THERE WAS A SENSOR FOR THE PTC HEATER UNDER THE STOCK CARB. A THIRD SENDER (NEAR THE THERMOSTAT WATER OUTLET) IS FOR YOUR TEMPERATURE GAUGE.

Also, something weird! I bought a Tach so I could watch the RPM's. Equus at Oreilly's,, directions say to hook up to (-) on the ignition coil,, which I did but no reading,,, so I thought for kicks I would try it on the (+) side and Wa La it works. I ALSO HAVE AN AFTERMARKET TACH FROM O'REILLY, SUNPRO. IF YOURS IS WORKING NOW, THEN, YOUR POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE ON YOUR COIL ARE SWITCHED, YOU'D HAVE TO SWITCH ALL OVER.

Also, on my weber It seems to have a place for an electric choke, But nothing is hooked up to it,,, Is that causing my high idle? Maybe? I'm in Texas, should I even need a choke? I ALSO HAVE WEBER, IN ARIZONA DESERT, AND I HAVE THE CHOKE HOOKED UP AND WORKING. THE ELECTRIC CHOKE HEATER WIRE PLUGS INTO THE REAR OF THE ALTERNATOR, LIKE 7 VOLTS OUTPUT. ONCE TRUCK IS FULLY WARMED UP, THE CHOKE SCREWS CAN BE LOOSENED, AIR CLEANER OFF, AND CHOKE HEATER ROTATED TO "JUST" OPEN THE CHOKE BUTTERFLY FULLY. THEN WHEN ENGINE IS FULLY COLD, THE CHOKE BUTTERFLY SHOULD BE ESSENTIALLY HORIZONTAL.

FOR BRAKES, I USE WAGNER THERMO QUIET OR BENDIX IMPORT QUIET. REMEMBER TO ADJUST THE REAR BRAKES MANUALLY AFTER INSTALLING THE DRUMS.

ok, With that being said... Can anyone tell me what Ignition coil wires (+) (-) side go where, and where they lead or come from? I have two on the (+) and two on (-) side. minus my Tachometer. What wires should be going where?
