Hi guys my name is Alex, I'm 19 and i just recently bought a 1988 mazda b2200, and I have a few questions to ask. I live in California so the smog rules here are pretty tough, I want to know what kind of work I need to do to the truck to prep it for smog check what do I need to clean ??? What adjustments do I need to do to the carburetor , or can I instal a Holley 6500 Feedback Carburetor, I just need help so I can smog the car and register it to my name

Thanks guys I highly appreciate any help

I'm in Arizona, but believe that regulations in most/all California require all and only original equipment on vehicles. So ditch the Holley idea (most her, like me, use a Weber if they need to upgrade and no emissions issue). Clean the spark plugs, new air cleaner, even change the oil; get up to operating temperature too, the converters work way better then.

The truck has a new oil filter, new spark plugs, and new oil. I need to replace the air filter and I think that's about it tune up wise.

And so the original carburetor that comes with the truck is a weber ???

And thanks a lot in being the first to comment

Check to make sure ignition timing is set correctly. Might be a good idea to replace the oxygen sensor too, they aren't too badly priced.
