3/16 is a good thickness for frame work. Front bag mounts,notches, etc should be no thinner than 3/16. If you plan on doing a subframe,which I doubt, go with 3/16 to 1/4 2x2,2x3,2x4.... Just patching up a spot? 3/16 will work fine. I'd read up on welding before I dove into it. I say this only because you ask the same questions every beginning welder asks... Good luck with it.

o yea I can weld thats not the problem ...like I say ...math is not my strong point ...haha so theres my inquiry of this ...and thanks alot for the advice and as long as 3/16 is good enough then thats fine with me ...

I do what mark said and bevel edges of most, if not anything I weld.. prep the metal as well as you can.

Everyone gave great advice, 3/16" is plenty strong.. and since you can weld, just worry about it penetrating and all and youll be fine. post some pics of the work

also with the lighter duty welders, you have to sit on it longer, thats the only disadvantage

don't try to move a little lincoln weldpak 100 like you would a miller 275 lol

it was crazy cause i go tused to welding with the machines at school and when i went home to grab the welder i did my truck with, i was like damn this sucks, its taking three times as long lol

lol yea thats whay i expected b/c my duty cycle can be at like 30% ..lol...so it sucks ...and im still a little confused on beveling edges ...anyone have pics??
