Input Wanted! Buying Metal Tubing, Fair Priced Small Order

Hey Guys just trying to get some input on this, would any of you be interested in buying metal tubing through this website? Say if your tired of needing only 4ft from the metal yard and they make you buy 20ft? and HomeDepot/Lowes sell the same tubing of 4ft for the same price as 20ft at the local metal yard?

Some examples

Square Tubing
Rectangle Tubing
DOM Round Tubing
Solid Rod/Block
Channel
Flat Stock
Solid Plate
Sheet Metal

etc etc pretty much anything you would need, I would be able to ship UPS ground as long as the piece was under 10ft other wise you would have to pay truck freight.

I don't know --- i think it would cost more to ship instead of you going down to the local homedepot/lowes or metal yard . By the time you get it you could have gone down to the store and brought it home . Plus i think shipping would be HIGH .. I didn't know they could ship 10 ft Of steel ???

anythin under that size is probably considered to not be oversized, otherwise it much more expensive...

I know a deal like this would have saved me a few times in the past. But it could also turn out to cost more. For instance, I bought a 8ft peice of 2in square tubing yesterday with .25 wall thickness. I cost me $40 and they even cut it about a foot long. There is no way shipping that would of been less than $30. It weighs about 50 - 60 pounds. Through experience, I recommend finding a local steel yard and befriending the sales person/yard worker. It seems that they set some prices on the fly... depending on their mood or if they know you or not. I've even gotten smaller peices for free when they recognize me and after about the 5th time buying odd sized stuff, they started telling me to dig through the scrap bin first. :rofl:

if you were shipping 4 feet at a time the cost would not be that bad. also who would you rather support, a big corperation or baha a guy who gives you a site you love??
