ok once i get back to the states i'll start building my/my son's (future) truck. since he's only 11 i still want him to experince the shows and the sport of minis, lowriders, and imports. him and my daughter both have been exposed to my fads of atv/dirtbikes amature and semi-pro racing and somewhat of the sport of semi-pro 4x4/rock crawling scene in their short life span. so before i post these questions please understand my family and i are well aware and have experenced the family and non-family clubs and suroundings. now are clubs and entering shows really worth it? i understand bragging and showing off your work but really though is it worth it? i also understand needing connections and stuff, but i already have particular shops and picked out and i've known the owers of the shops for years (in other words connections are not a issue). when it comes to trying to get your stuff in mags what's the pros and cons of that, and and the pros and cons of being in clubs and taking your stuff to shows? i know for myself i'm going to be building this truck for the time i get to spend with my kids and for me. isn't that what our motivation supose to be or am i wrong? ok ok ok i'll stop with the ranting. if ya wouldn't mind could ya try to anwser some if not all the question.

thx josh

entering shows :

its up to you - some enter for the trophies some enter to just hang out with other like minded ppl and show off thier trucks /cars at the same time to let ppl see what you've done to your truck .

CLUBS:

Clubs are what you make of it - if you have time and want to put effort in being active in your local truck club then so great. But keep in mind most clubs do have alot of younger guys /gals who party - something you wouldn't really want to bring your youngins around (drinking thats all) The best advise from me is to go check out your local clubs hang out with a couple of them go to thier meetings and see if they invite you to some parties etc and get a feel what they are all about . if they just party ppl then just move on - find a club that is established . i know of some good clubs that are around nc /sc area you may be interested in lookin into.

Clubs:
RELAXED ATOMSPHERE (SP?)
PEBBLE PUSHERS
arcophobia (sp??) <--- can never spell that name for sh_t lol
thats about all in the clubs i know /heard of in nc-/sc area. these are well known clubs and are pretty much family oriented as well.

getting into mags ..

well you have to have something eye catching a new mod never done before or something unique .its not as easy as one thinks to get into mags for features - best bet if you want to see your ride in a mag show up at a show and hope they see it and it gets in atleast show coverage .

I was a member of Pebble Pushers for about 4 years starting in 97. They are a great club, but have very strict guidelines to follow if you want to be a member. I had a lot of fun with them and Im still friends with a few of them to this day.

I disagree knowing certain people and such can also get you in mags.

Well Josh, I will try to do my best on this subject. Like you, my girls have been around the lowrider/show scene there entire life. My older daughters first sunburn (the one with the project truck on this site) was at a local show when she was 6 months old As far as a club being worth it I can only say it is what you make of it. I have been the VP of Altered Images C.C. for 11 years. As a club, we hit many of the local shows and LRM shows. Definately a lot of fun rollin into a show with 8-16 rides. The after show parties can also be a lot of fun. My kids enjoy the large indoor shows and hanging with the other kids in the club. As a larger club, we do get a lot of respect at the shows, but I can't say it gets us any more trophys. Altered Images cars have been featured in LRM several times, but I think that has more to do with who you know. Some of it is the club though. As a club we do gets some pretty good deals but I think you got that already worked out - not to mention just being a member of this site Lastly, going to shows in a group does have its obvious advantages over solo riders. Again, it depends on the club and what you make of it.

Good luck over seas, stay safe, and definately look forward to your return and the soon to follow project pics!

I'm not big with the club scene. I'd rather roll solo,or with a buddy than with a large group.

Whatever vehicle I drive,I do try to find an owners club and join it and attend some meets, but I usually just post in the forums and meet up with some of the locals.

Clubs I'm currently involved with are:
Bscene obviously - met up with some local members and made some good friends.

Contour Enthusiast Group (CEG) - Used to have two Ford Contours and a Mercury Mystique. Still hang around since I know those cars inside and out now.

Isuzu Forums

C7Performance - They're based out of Toronto, started out as a Celica club, and joined them 3 years ago when I had a Celica, but they're open to all vehicles. I've gone to many meets and shows with them and they're an awesome bunch, but I didnt get out to a single meet or anything with them this year because of work.

However, like I said about rolling solo,I prefer to do things at my leisure and how and when I want. I'm usually that elusive guy. You see me around all the time, but it's hard to track me down.

I've been in the same club for the past 7 years and that was from the ground up (not a pun) after a shit load of us split from a larger club. We wanted to be about friends and family, not rules, regulations, and member dues. We've had members come and go; some stay for a few years and some stay for a few months, but I can honestly say that I have made friends with some people in my club that I will be good friends with for the rest of my life. I could have left and tried to join one of the big three clubs (ST, NC, or RA) but I was happy where I was cause of all the great people.

And to crazymikey.........ther's nothing better (well not much) than seeing 10 to 20 minis and lowriders cruising down the highway to go to a show. If your in the front (I usually am cause me and the lolo's are the slowest), its awesome to look back and see 1/2 a kilometer of custom rides behind you.

no doubt big guy, Ive seen this a couple times and its excellent to see mini truckers and lowriders uniting like that to go to a show.

Good Times.

Now thats what I'm talkin about Unfortunately, my ride has become to much of a trailer queen (takes way to long to clean), so I am definately pumped to finish the kids truck and do some serious rollin!
