Really, now that I think of it, I don't know if my truck is going to fit the lifestyle I thought I would have. I'm contemplating more nowadays on what it would be like to have a truck with more horsies and has more ground clearance. I have been getting serious with hunting the past 2 years, and want something more off road capable.

I was thinking about something like a Tundra or Ram. Not sure. But I have only got about $6,500 invested into my truck, and at my rate it will take a bit for some more money flow. Just wondering what your guys' take is on this. What have you guys found to be a good all around truck, stock? And consider gas mileage also. The Tundra has 18 mpg. Not bad compared to mine, at 22 mpg.

See the thing is, I may not even be able to get my trucks full potential value. What is the popularity for our Mazda trucks?

what do you think your trucks potential value is. cause I doubt you will get 6,500 bucks for your truck. I mean dont get me wrong its a nice truck. but not 6,500 worth just my 2cents

thses are not practical, thats why we cut em up, buy a daily and keep the mazda till ya can do more with it.
Its snowed like 3 feet here so far , now I remember why I bought my element

I use mine as a Daily and I can carry all my kids in it I do need to add a middle seatbelt though but other than that it works great but then we dont get that much snow here and the road I live on is deiced right away (state Highway)

Why dont you go to AutoTrader.com and find an extended cab B2600i 4x4 and fix it up.Plenty of power (120 hp stock) and u can lift it for more ground clearance.I second the above post, u have a nice truck but would be very lucky to get 2500-3000 for it.BJ

u gotta a sweet truck there man. i say keep the truck as a project, thats what im doing now. i have a ford explorer (pos) if you do happen to take either a tundra or ram id go with a ram. theres no damn room in the back of the tundra. i used to have an 01 ram and loved it. i totaled it out 7 months after i got. what were your plans with it? bag it? bodydrop it? shave it?

yeah man, keep your mazda as a project and build it into a sweet truck over time, and buy something as a daily driver.

Now,I don't know your financial situation, but I can't afford to to make payments and pay for insurance on a newer vehicle. Infact,I can't afford full coverage insurance on anything newer than 2000. But then,I'm 21 next month and have 1 speeding ticket and 1 accident to my name.

Actually this spring,I was looking to buy a newer vehicle,I had $5000 saved up for a down payment, and I found a sweeeeeeeeet 2002 GMC Sonoma SLS crew cab 4x4 with 32 000km for $19k (Cdn). It was an uber steal. It was white on black leather, loaded with every bell whistle and goody that came from the factory and when me and my mom went back to go look at it 2 days later,it was already sold. I'd look into one with the ZR2 (Chev) or ZR5 (GMC) offroad package. The 4.3 is kinda hard on gas,and they do like to rust, but they're nice trucks for what they are. Lots of them around, parts are plentiful and you don't have to pay a ton of money for one.

My step dad has a 2002 Mazda B4000 4x4 ext cab with the 4.0L V6 and a 5 speed. He bought it new andi t's not paid off till April '07 and he's got almost 300 000km on it. It's still in good shape,he puts 1000km/wk on it commuting to work,he uses it for hunting and hauling all sorts of stuff. It's wicked in the snow, pretty decent on gas for what it is and for the most part, been reliable as all he's really had to do is routine maintenance and warranty or recall work on it. Nice truck, but not personally what I would like. I love the way it looks, but it's really just a gussied up Ranger and when I get inside it just screams Ranger and the seats are terrible.

Don't get a Ram because you'll never afford the gas for it. Just get a Prerunner or 4x4 Taco that's a couple years old. You get Toyota build quality and reliability and pretty good gas milage,as well as a good looking practical truck that you can chop up later on,lol.

I bet I could get $5k at the most. It may a little wavy, bodywise, but mechanically its optimal. I don't expect the truck to pay for my next truck that I'm hoping for, but I need a nice dent in the payment. Problem is, my truck is an '89, and I have'nt seen them to be too popular of a truck. Old body style and not feature-full.

I was thinking more ofa B4000 4x4 if I did another Mazda truck. Although mpg would be worse than a smaller block. Really, I think I would not be able to get the most out of my truck no matter how much more I invest. It just simply is'nt in that kind of demand. I probably would be better off keeping it and maintaining it until it craps out on me.

My dad has a Tundra, and I admit, there is'nt much cab space! I have been thinking more about the Nissan Titan or the Frontier also. Seems like some really cool trucks to have. Mind you, I'm still young and don't have an income that is impressible at all. So having two vehicles to maintain is going to be hard IMO. So I just want to really shoot for something that I can get with one vehicle for any purpose. Although, if I get rid of this Mazda, I'll probably wanna shoot myself for getting rid of it!

So either the Nissan Titan or Frontier, Toyota Tacoma or Tundra, Mazda B4000, Dodge Dakota, and the Ford F-150. Its hard to determine, but I bet if I set my sights on it, I can get one and fix 'er up! I really like those damned Titans though!

Thanks for the comment on my truck! I've had people ask me frequently if they can take it off my hands, but no good offers. One guy wanted to give me his Cutlass that was body-dropped with a $3k paint-job, and a GMC Jimmy on hydraulics. But I knew it was'nt a good deal. Just was'nt worth the fixing up...

Yeah man I'm with you in the low income bracket. I have 2 vehicles, the Mazda which I have dumped $6000 into and depleted ALL of my savings that took me almost 6 months to save up.

Then I bought the Rodeo in September,I paid $600 for it,but now with repairs and mods,my total cost for it is a little over $2000.

Lastyear I only made $19k net and at my new job now I'm looking at making just under $25k gross, unless I get hired fulltime within the next little while.

I'm saving up for parts for the Mazda for the spring, and the Mazda is off the road and uninsured, while I daily drive the Isuzu and spend tons of money on gas. I fill up like every other day, because I commte 800km/wk to work and back. Then I have my insurance on top of that, and repairs...and then all my other monthly bills, and food. It's not easy man. I'm glad I live at home and don't pay rent right now, because I wouldn't be able to afford to live on my own.

And man, there is demand for your truck, but all the guys that want it are guys like us,and we're all broke,so just hang onto it and enjoy it while you can.
