Vacuum Forming Anyone?

I was just wondering if anyone has tried Vacuum Forming to create a nice looking dash out of ABS?

I was just thinking that you could make a killer dash if you used your stock dash as the form! Once it was all said and done, you would have one sweet-ass dash that is completely smooth and virtually ready for paint right out of the mold!

I am going to look into it and possibly do something along the lines of this:



It would obviously have to be a lot bigger, but we will see!

Ive built that same rig and it works good. I dont think you would be able to do a dash with it without modding it a little. The dash is a little complicated to get it to work. You would have to drill a lot of holes in certain areas to get it to make a good mold. Also your dash would be slightly bigger than your original dash. Depending on how thick your material was it might not fit correctly when your done. Works great for a lot of other stuff too.

I've been looking for the electric grill for a couple months now. All I can find are round ones. Who sells the rectangle one?

I found mine at walmart a long time ago... You might try looking at an RV parts place. Other than that you might find one on ebay.
