stickin to a plan and a budjet

I really think to finish a truck sucessfully, its a good idea to set a budjet and a plan of attack .
So here is the purposed budjet, let me know what yall think.
CDN dollars inc tax and shipping!

Wheels and tires $3000.00

Air system and suspension $3000.00

Paint and body supplies $2000.00

engine mods (carb, header) $1000.00

interior misc, seats elect, stuff, (need a new keyless entry w sec. already got stereo and most materials for int.) $1500.00

box liner $500.00

new billet grill parts etc, $600.00

Some blood , lots O sweat,

Total $$$$11,600.00

I really think this is a reasonable number I will be performing all of the work myself and this will be a frame off with a 2" body drop, (trad) and air system with automatic air up and leveling, 18" rins and a custom made aluminum box cover on remote. Color??

I think your a little shy on the air system, and perhaps the paint supplies....people forget things like connectors, wire and what not for air systems.....of course if you are doing the install you will save, but don't forget welding gas, wire, sanding and grinding discs sawzall blades...these things add up.

Same with paint, tonnes of sandpaper, sanding blocks, primer, filler, sheetmetal, base clear, reducers, hardeners, adhesion promoters, and specialty colours really add up fast. Again if you do it yourself you will save, but if you've never done it expect to do certain things twice.

Haha wow,I'm already over your budget! However,I've had a plan from the start,but as I keep getting more done,I keep adding more things that cost more money. But I'm in so deep now,it doesn't really matter. I'm doing it for the love of the hobby,it gives me something to do and something to be proud of,so it's all in good fun. I think I might be able to come in under the $20k mark by the time all is said and done.

What I always base my budget on is this. Think what its going to cost and write it all down. Then take a third of that total and add it in as extra's and thats about what your total will run. So if you think that your going to spend 10 thousand it is really more like 13 thousand.

thats a cool way at looking at it.I am already at $9000.00 and my truck is still in pieces but the parts are there

I'm at about $7.5K, and it looks nothing like that much! But this includes all the odds and ends I've bought for my truck...

I make a list of as much things I need to do to my truck, and then I <i>prioritize</i> them. Its better to do it that way, and in the long run you will add more value if you have to unexpectdly sell it!

But hey, most of us are in it for the hobby, oldschoolin' it and enjoying a small economical truck.

Lol, I thought about it the other day, when this truck is finished, the only way I'll get rid of it, is when the insurance company declares it a total because of a wreck! Other then that, it would have to go into the junkyard car crusher! Lol, which will never happen!

i am at about $1,200...

soon to drop about $350-$400 for my front bag setup..

my wheels budget is $1,600...

bodywork and paint $2,000...

interior and system $2,000...

rear air and frame work $1,500...

those are just rounded off numbers...

should be around $10,000-$12,000 when finished...

yeah,prioritizing things is good,rather than running out with fistfuls of money and throwing them at random parts.

Lol, yea, cause then you may have a bumping sound system and then the next day, you find out you need to rebuild your engine!

layed, I think you got lucky since what, you bought your truck like what it is in the pics, right? Cause if your plan is that cheap, tell me what you did!

well here what im figuring

suspension 2500-3000 (air)
body work and paint - 1500-2000 (prolly wont get done but silver)
engine 4500-5000 (ford 2.3turbo have most everything here just need machine work and new internals and new turbo)
wheel and tire (1500-2000)
odds and ends including tools 2500-3000
