Okay guys, I got myself 2 14 inch fans and went to napa and got a thermostat control unit with variable adjustment. Its flexalite brand... Also hooked it up to a relay and its fused.

MY fans WONT kick on! I don't get why my fans are not coming on!?

I've got a few misunderstandings to it, and wonder about these factors on why it may not be working"

1. I did'nt put the unit on a flat surface. I screwed it to my front clip. Does it matter if its on a flat surface? I don't get why it would matter.
2. Would it matter whether or not my relay is a SPDT or SPST? I was online and they said use a SPST.
3. The wiring may be in the wrong spots?

I need to scan up a couple pics of what I'm going off of and show you all what I'm wiring...

But does anyone have any ideas? Give me a few minutes, I'll put up my pics...

Okay, heres my reference pics:

I've followed this whole diagram. It is'nt working...

This is the diagram flexalite gave me with the kit. But it does'nt iclude the relay...

Now, between the two, if the 3 above factors mentioned are not the problem, I suspect 2 things:

1. 2 and C on the thermostat need to be spliced together for the + and it should run?
2. Either 2 or C on the thermostat need to be grounded?

EDIT: Guess no one has the answer?

One more thing, I think there may be another problem to this wiring. The relay diagram is not accurate to the relays schematics on the box for it.

85 in the diagram is going to 86 and then to the thermostat. On the box it says use it as a ground. Im wondering if it should go from 30 to 86 to thermostat. Then 85 is a ground and 87 goes to + for fans.

86 and 87 then in lies the question. Should these go to 2 and C or one of them go to + on fans and the other to 2 or C? LOL!

TOO MANY COMBOS!

lol where is your thermo temp sensor located?

My Flexalite is wired this from neg pole of the battery to the neg pole on the controller box.Pos.wire from the battery + pole to the + pole on the controller with a fuse..Temp probe mounted in the rad right under the hose intake and wire to the temp input pole on the controller box. Finally a hot wire from the switch to the controller box fused>My fan will only come on when the switch is on>Otherwise it would come on anytime the contoller limit was exceeded>BJ

The temp sensor is placed in the radiator fins by the upper hose...

See, my thermostat kit does'nt have a "ground". It only has 2 terminals and the sheet says they are used as +'s. I finally gave up last night and took out the relay... I just hooked up the thermostat kit and fused it with a 20 amp fuse.

It works now, but I still want to hook it up on the relay! If ANYONE knows how to wire it up to it properly, do NOT hesitate to enlighten me!

Yeaaaa...but I'm kinda regretting mounting the fans to the radiator with zip ties.. It messed up quit a bit doing that... But they work! lol...

The guy did'nt even send me any mounting hardware!

...and BJ, now, are you talking about a switch inside the cab that your flipping so it turns on? If so, I think thats a bad idea!

If it were hot enough, my fans would come on even when I'm not driving! Thats why I need the relay... OR I need to know what wire is the + on the ignition so it only comes on when I have the ignition on!

that's what BJ said, he has a switch that turns the fans off so they don't run if it's not running. You could do exactly what he posted or use a relay like you said and use the black/white wire off your key. That is the ignition. Hope this help.
