OKAY! So the very most interesting thing happened tonight! Its been a nightmare all day! All these little repair issues I've been having with the truck has me!

So I'm finishing up everything and I was making a gasket for the distributor. I put it all back in but to my ignorance I did'nt have my wires right. The firing order was wrong. No biggie, until I was trying to turn it over! It did'nt want to turn over barely. BUT!

THE CATCH! All the sudden there is this loud pop from inside the cab! Then theres smoke!!!! It smelt like gun powder and burnt dust.

WHAT THE HELL! Does anyone have any idea what happened? I fixed the firing order and drove it. It drives fine now and all, but I just cant comprehend what happened?!

Maybe the dist. does'nt relate to this, but this is what I was doing at the time...

I've looked everywhere at the steering column and I cant find anything that looks burnt... I can certainly smell it though!

Check your fuse block and all your wiring from there and around the computer. Sounds like you might have popped a relay they make a nice POP sound sometimes when a surge goes through them.

The smoke came from behind the steering column. I still do not have my dash in yet and was in this general area... How many computers the mazdas have? I took out the ECU for emissions..

All the fuses were good. The alarm still works, lol. So I know it was'nt that. When I was trying to turn it over, it sounded like the battery was dead. Just a real slow turn but not alot of effort and then something blows up!

After fixing the wires though, nothing seemed wrong and ran fine. The smoke did'nt come from the engine compartment at all. So it was something inside the truck!

Where in the truck would I find any relays for the truck?
