Hey. First off i would like to appologize for not introducing myself as a new member. My name is andy. Thanks for all the help so for.
ON TO THE TOPIC
I got a viair 450 with a 7gallon tank and its not filling it very fast. I know its possible to convert the a/c compressor into the air tank conpressor. If anyone has done this; any info, pics and/or diagrams would be greatly appretiated.

I did it fist you need to find out witch line is the inlet and the outlet. Than run a oiler to the inlet and a oil separator on the outlet line make sure you run steel braided line to the tank and run a water/oil trap at the tank as well as a check valve. if you need more info let me no and I can take some pic's

And don't run some puny cheap as 1/4 harbour freeight oiler or filter either....get some decent SMC or Parker units that flow good and the comp will last much longer. Oh and get a filter that has a metal bowl and is rated beyond 150psi....at least 200...and don't forget to run a blow off valve...around 175 to 200 psi..because most ac comps are capable of well into the 3 and 400 psi range;.

I took the rear cap of the compressor and had it tapped at the machine shop.
1/4" pipe thread on the discharge, 3/8" pipe thread on the suck side.
I ordered an Viair leader hose and an ASCO water seperator from Ricky at whynotfab.com and hooked them up to the discharge side.
The fittings I got from the local Parker store and used it to hook the in-line oiler i got from sears and the filter from autozone.
I also ordered an ASCO pressure switch from Ricky. You hook it up like any othe 12v compressor.
hope this helps, I don't have it in the truck yet, but i hope I should this week.Email me with any questons you might have.

I couldn't keep the thing oiled so I would recommend a bigger oiler than the one I had. Also, with the fittings I had on there they got in the way of the header so they had to go. A blow off valve is a MUST. Again, A BLOW OFF VALVEW IS A MUST!!! That's what happened to mine. My pressure switch messed up and it blew my oil separator to pieces. I got discouraged after that and got two viair 380's. The EDC pumps air like mad.

make sure you run steel braided line all the way to the tank and run a oil separator and a water/oil trap two will help catch all the oil coming in the tank and it helps to run a drain plug on your tank as well. by the way you will love how fast your tank fills.
