check engine light

this question is mainly for bj cuz he seems to know all when it comes to the factory things. at about 200k my check engine light came on for no reason. I figure it may have something to do with like a regular service warning or something like that. truck runs fine with no probs. how do i get the light off without just takin the bulb out because i want to know why it is on. i have no computer shit left.

I didnt think the engine light would come on if there was no computer in the truck?

form what i gather, it only comes on if there is something wrong with the smog stuff, egr valve or something just my .02

there is a plug under the dash,up high in the kick panel one is blue and theres another one thats brown, these are single pin plugs, one of the plugs will be pluged into either the brown or blue, just unplug whatever one its pluged into and move it to the other

same thing happened to mine. I called mazda and the guy said that its set to come on around 200,000 and the only way to reset it, is to take the dash apart and unplug the bulb for 10secs. its just mazda's way of making money because most people try disconnecting the battery and all that to clear it but that doesnt work so as a last resort, the owner will bring it in for service. sounds crazy but that what i was told to do by the service manager at my local dealership. my light hasnt come on since

It is a service interval lite for Smog control/EGR valve service intervals.Reach up under ur dash,locate the DIP lite housing for the "check engine"lite,unplug it,rotate the plug 180 degrees,plug it back in and the lite should go out, to return when the truck turns 400,000 miles.With the computer gone I am surprised it even came on.Lol.BJ
