a rolling ticket book eh

Casually cruising home from work,just driving along,I pass a cop in the opposite direction. I think nothing of it and about 5 minutes later all of a sudden there's a police car on my ass tailing me for a couple minutes before hitting the lights.

So I pull over and this woman cop walks right up to my window and rudely asks "What the hell kind of lights are those?" I looked at her like whaaat??

"You tail lights. They aren't red."
I was like, "umm,yes they are,I have red painted bulbs in them."
"They don't look red to me."
So I go "ok,they may look a little pink" with a chuckle.

So we get out and we look at them and she's like "those definetly aren't red" while I'm looking at them and see absolutely nothing wrong. They look red to me. Then she says "your tail light lenses need to be red" and I looked at her and looked back at the lights and asked "so you stopped me because my tail lights are fully functional and have the proper coloured bulbs,all of which are clearly visible?" She says "no,because your lights and lenses are not red,which is required by law."

She tells me to get back in my truck,so I do and as I sit down she hits the horn,which doesn't work. "That doesn't work either huh?" and I was playing stupid,knowing it doesnt work and said "huh,it did when I installed it,I guess it must have grounded out or something. I'll have to look into that."

After that she says "well you better get that stuff fixed because you're looking at $220 worth of fines and that's just for 2 things so far. I'm going to let you get a chance to fix your lights and horn,and because you drive such a noticeable vehicle,if I see you again,I WILL ticket you next time."

I was all like whatever and said "alright,those 2 things just give me another excuse to do some work on my truck this weekend" and she walked away.

That's the 3rd time I've been stopped on that stretch of road since May. Last time I got stopped,the cop stopped me with my stock headlights saying they were too bright and then freaked when he found my utility knife I used at work in my centre console.

Oh well. All in a day of bein a minitrucker,right?

bulb color doesnt matter, you have to have a red reflective type of surface for it to be " legal " i got popped for the same thing years ago when i had clear tails

my room mate has been running no front plate (illegal in CA) and clear lenses with red bulbs for years in his truck, and never been stopped. lucky mofo! i can't get away with sh!t

mikey...she only stopped you to check out your truck man. thats why the sheriff pulled me over a while back, that and because of my fancy footwork on the brakes (wreckless driving) -bf

You don't need red lenses on canadian vehicles...Just a red reflector at the rear and rear sides of the vehicle...and they do not need to be integrated into the lense at all.... MAZDA 3 for instance, or lexus RX300

wow, was she hot?? that wouldve been cool!!!! anyway yeah clear tails arent illegal iahs some on my ram a few years ago and never got stopped. like fan said maybe she just wanted to check out the ride, after all she did say you drive a "noticeable" truck

just take it apart and color the back of the reflector where the light bulb goes the color you need then put it back together.

Or just get LED cluster boards built that properly illuminate the lense red during the daytime....I might even know A guy who could build them for you....cough cough mme....

mikey it only gets worse once you get bagged, here in kentucky and probably any other state in the u.s. it is illegal to do any kind of altered suspension work on a truck or car for that matter. In other words a weld in c notch can get your truck impounded by the police, how i found out?

long story short.

I am driving down the road stop at a stop sign like normal, i go to put it in first let out of the clutch everythings fine, well the ass end prolly had 5-10psi ( smooth road at first) once I take the turn I hit a bump and the rear end threw a spark, got pulled over cop asked me why i was hitting switches i replyed i didnt blah blah blah. he said """" dont be none of that neat shit around here""" next time i see it i will take your truck impound it for wreckless driving and altered suspension and all that, me knowing if i were to get any type of attitude this dude was gonna try to lock me up and what not. So the reliable yes sir yes sir yes sir i no sir yes sir worked and he let me go.......

it sucks but hey what can ya do?

I get pulled over way more in my 67 Mustang than I do in my truck. Its weird.
