ok, i saw someone had this in the toyota section over on SSM, and got curious. Would this be possible on a mazda also? Maybe use some pathfinder rotors and calipers, but hand fab some kind of bracketry

i donno. it is hard to hold the 2700lb and 90hp back tho. -bf

i don't care about holding power, that's why the body sits on the ground.. I want looks..

I got the whole rear end out of a nissan 1994 pathfinder and it works perfectly

Ive been wondering about this for some time also. Seems like it would work if you made some brackets for the calipers and welded them on the axle.

if you wanted to swap to a 4wd 90-97 yota rear end (i believe that is the correct years, would have to double check tho, they are the same width from wms to wms, and you get a couple different gearing options), you can get a disc conversion for it from downey off road.....

also, i've heard of using late model chevy rotors, and calipers off of a montecarlo.....someone else suggested using a pathy rearend that already came w/ disc.....other than that, if you plan on going to a 5-lug setup, you could do what i've started on, 84-85 rx-7 gsl-se rearend, they are limited slip, 4.07:1 gear ratio, and come with disc already which is nice, but you'll have to cut off all of the existing bracketry (as those rx's were a link type w/ coil springs in the rear), and weld some new on bracketry, also it is a 4 x 4.5" lug pattern, so you will have to get the disc & axles redrilled (won't work for 6-lug application as the disc are too small in the mounting surface area) you can reuse the trucks e-brake cable on these calipers, but will need to have the cable shortened a little, and a button crimped on the end.

this topic has popped up every now & then, and think limequat had done some research into the pathy rear, and maybe another as a source for a rear disc setup......

you can use the front rotors off a 4x4 Chevy truck that is 6 lug you will have to bore out the center hole just like the rims. then get some rear calipers off a old caddy that has a cable Ebreak and make brackets for them to mount to the rearend.

well, when your body is on the ground, you don't need an e-brake. As for all the 4 and 5 lug stuff, that don't help me out.

As for the whole rear end of the pathfinder, wouldn't do me any good, cuz my fourlink is already welded in place,
so I am going to try and use the newer 6 lug stuff from a chevy and some caddy rear calipers..
do you know what years to get this stuff?

and as for boring out the holes, I wouldn't have to. The tabs and stuff have already been cut off my axles on both sides. Cuz i ddin't want to pay someone to do something that ddin't really need to be done when I had my navigator wheels.

If your gonna do this please take some pics and tell us how it works out.

89/90 Isuzu Rodeo rear discs and calipers, and the calipers have e-brake cables. Done it to my truck an had to make mounting brakets and still in the process of trying to figure out how to get the e-brake cables to hold.
