78 Courier auto to 5 speed swap

Hey all!

I just recently acquired a 1978 Ford Courier with 96xxxkm, 3 speed auto, no rust, mint shape long box truck. In the same day, I managed to get a 84 Mazda B2000 5 speed short box truck with 76xxxkm on it. My question is: Is it possible to use the 5 speed transmission from the 84 2L on the 2.3L ford engine that is in my 78 courier? I have read up in the forums here that the popular swap to the B2k's is to put the ford 2.3L in. Does this mean that the bell housing is the same bolt pattern? I don't want to rip the transmission out of this truck until I know exactly what I need, because this truck is going to be the daily driver.

no it will not work they are way differnet i have a 79 courier 4 speed

Have any recommendations for what I should be able to pull a tranny out of for the Courier anyone?
