Ok i just got enrolled today and here is the scoop its kinda cool........the classes im taking (first is into to arch) is based on skill level...no books...they teach you to weld.........and as you advance you earn credits if i miss a class i can go to an afternoon or day class to make up for the time...after i compleate the arch class in december i will start wire machine...they work it the same way...then advanced wire machine welding.....then if i want to get certified...then the books and class come into play withwelding theroy and fabrication....so all in all it would be a year at tree nights aweek 6 to 10 pm.....im kinda excited...wish me luck
I took welding in high school (acetylene & oxygen) and enjoyed it... but that was over 20 years ago.
My 2 brothers (one older and one younger) bought a MIG welder a couple years ago and my older brother took a welding course. Him and I built a metal trailer for my Jon boat last summer and the trailer has survived so far.
I'm pretty good with carpentry and can build many things but think that welding opens up whole new frontiers, specially working on vehicles and such.
congrats toddluck and enjoy the time in class. And not to jump on your thread but I have an arch welder and a mig up for grabs as I have to many welders and only need my 220 one now.
