SO i was just on ebay and i came across this add 4 drilled and slotted rotors for a mazda B2200.. They are made by R1 concepts and they are selling 4 $110.00.. just wondering if anyone has these rotors on there truck and what you think about them...

Drilled and Slotted Rotors are useless....they do not dissipate heat as well as just a Regular Stock Vented Rotor.

Cross Drilled Rotors remove some of the precious metal that can be used as the heat sink for lower temp braking. Cross drilling can produce stress cracks, chamfering reduces this a bit.

Most ppl will disagree with me, but that is the true answer. If you are going to go with an after market rotor just use the slotted.

Slotted is really the best way to try and add extra venting to the rotors. The slots are made in an arc that goes from center to outside, gas can escape easier because there is a tendency to "throw" it out from centrifugal force. It's a small difference, probably not noticeable unless you are constantly on the edge

So imo I would stay away from the ones on eBay....

Hope this helps.

Also those rotors on ebay are for the 94+ trucks which is a 5 lug Ranger suspension. They won't fit the 86-93 trucks.

i will dissagree to a point with you dev, slotted rotors will give greater initial bite, the cross drilling dissipates heat, and the gassious barrier between the rotor & pad under heavy braking, thus giving you a better brake package.

true they are more so prone to cracking & warping, but his can be solved by cryogenic treatment. for everyday use, they probably are pointless, & yes removing some of the pad surface (contact area) from the rotor will be detremetnal to the brakes performance, but if used with a better pad than oem, they will out perform the stock setup.

as the only bolt on option for upgrading our front brakes with our spending a whole lot of money, you can get shorter stopping distances, & better overall braking than stock.

the ones i got from national fleet parts (rotorsandpads) are vented aswell as being slotted & crossdrilled, and i had them cryo-treated when i got my engine done too. rick diekman is the chicago area contact for metal-wear, tell him greg with the mazda b2200 motor sent you his way, & he will treat ya right.

info on rotors:

they are also sold by jc whitney sometimes.
