.......what they considered "cool" back in 93....

im flipping through some of dads old Truckin' magazines and they are talkin bout air dams and body kits....

they have pics in the features just showing the billet grille and shaved bumper bolts....

16's were considered big,

trucks with NO tailgates got featured (and the pinds and hinges were still in place......)

there were adds in the magazine for pyle subs.

a drop and wheels would get you featured.

spoilers were a big thing on trucks.

dually kits were available for s10's and rangers.

corvette taillights were on everything

louvered rear windows were popular

there is a pic of a ranger from Detroit Autorama and they are crazy about the 17's!

a truck that has a highly extended frame, 2 cabs set on it, a filler between the cabs, and 3 rear axles got featured....

body colored headlight covers were cool.

the Truckin' project vehicle was a

but o yah, theres a test of a b2600i in the June 93 issue.....

and people somehow managed to drive their trucks with the tires tucked and no adjustable suspension......

I remember when 17's first came out, they were about 800 a wheel. If you had those you were truely pimpin. Back then they looked like 20's

yeah,
i have some of my old mini truckin mags, and i remember all of that stuff,
z-flex ground effects kits, over the bumper covers, bumper spoilers 17 where the shiznit, the bigger the spoiler the better.
as i hate to say it, mine when it gets done will have a touch of the old school, i have a stillen under bumper spoiler, 16's (not tuckin), static drop,
and will have a low profile adjustable spoiler on my tonneau when i get that far.

not hating, just point out how times have changed......

honestly, i dont think mazdas look right on anything bigger than 16's. shit, my old one had American Racing 14's, had several people who thought they were 17's or 18's....

wheels dont make a vehicle, all they are is what it rolls on......

had the 14's with a big static drop, i LOVED IT! damn i want her back to bad its been totalled, had vins swapped, and all kinds of shit since i sold it.....have heard it could be bought back for like $300, but its just not worth it to me

i ain't hatin, just sayin that i ain't following the trend or fad or new thing, i want my ride the way i wanted to fix it up when i got it in '93, i was just too young, and didn't have the $$ to do it with then, now i have a little extra change, and since its paid for why not fix r up?

"wheels dont make a vehicle, all they are is what it rolls on...... "
true they are just what they roll on, but they can totally change the
looks of a vehicle, from flat to phat!!

LOL I know that ya'll aint hatin. BUT we did do some crazy things back then - BUT that is what progression is all about. AND mini truckin/truckin has allways been on the cutting edge of new styles and concepts. WE seem to be the first to try something. Must have something to do with not giving a damn about what others think about us or our rides.

JEEEZ - I had pink and green wipers on my Mazda.. WTF was I thinking ... OH oh and pink knock offs... OK I"m going to quit emberrasing myself now.

i here ya, my bud had a peach s-10 back in highschool. another bud in highschool had a datsun 310 station wagon with 13" dayton wire wheels
i've seen a whole bunch of crazy stuff over the years, and no doubt will see a lot more before i'm gone. customizing has allways been on cutting edge, look at the custom bike fad, soon it will play out, and something new will come along.
